1 John 5:5-15 CEV
(5) No one can defeat the world without having faith in Jesus as the Son of God. (6) Water and blood came out from the side of Jesus Christ. It wasn't just water, but water and blood. The Spirit tells about this, because the Spirit is truthful. (7) In fact, there are three who tell about it. (8) They are the Spirit, the water, and the blood, and they all agree. (9) We believe what people tell us. But we can trust what God says even more, and God is the one who has spoken about his Son. (10) If we have faith in God's Son, we have believed what God has said. But if we don't believe what God has said about his Son, it is the same as calling God a liar. (11) God has also said that he gave us eternal life and that this life comes to us from his Son. (12) And so, if we have God's Son, we have this life. But if we don't have the Son, we don't have this life. (13) All of you have faith in the Son of God, and I have written to let you know that you have eternal life. (14) We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him. (15) And if we know that God listens when we pray, we are sure that our prayers have already been answered.

1 John 5:5-15 NWT
5 Who is the one that conquers the world but he who has faith that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he that came by means of water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And the spirit is that which is bearing witness, because the spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three witness bearers, 8 the spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement. 9 If we receive the witness men give, the witness God gives is greater, because this is the witness God gives, the fact that he has borne witness concerning his Son. 10 The [person] putting his faith in the Son of God has the witness given in his own case. The [person] not having faith in God has made him a liar, because he has not put his faith in the witness given, which God as witness has given concerning his Son. 11 And this is the witness given, that God gave us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that has the Son has this life; he that does not have the Son of God does not have this life. 13 I write you these things that you may know that you have life everlasting, you who put your faith in the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us. 15 Further, if we know he hears us respecting whatever we are asking, we know we are to have the things asked since we have asked them of him.

1 John 5:5-15 ALT
(5) Who is the one overcoming the world, if not the one believing [or, who is convinced] that Jesus is the Son of God? (6) This is the One having come through water and blood-Jesus Christ; not by the water only, _but_ by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the One testifying, because the Spirit is the truth. (7) Because three are the Ones testifying: (8) the Spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are into the one [fig., agree as one]. (9) If we receive the testimony of people, the testimony of God is greater; because this is the testimony of God which He has testified concerning His Son. (10) The one believing [or, trusting] in the Son of God has such testimony in him; the one not believing God, has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony which God has testified concerning His Son. (11) And this is the testimony, that God gave eternal life to us, and this life is in His Son. (12) The one having the Son has such life; the one not having the Son of God does not have such life. (13) These things I wrote to you*, the ones believing [or, trusting] in the name of the Son of God, so that you* shall know that you* have eternal life, and so that you* shall be believing [or, shall continue believing] in the name of the Son of God. (14) And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we are asking anything according to His will, He hears us. (15) And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have requested from Him.

1 John 5:5-15 BBE
(5) Who is able to overcome the world but the man who has faith that Jesus is the Son of God? (6) This is he who came by water and by blood, Jesus Christ; not by water only but by water and by blood. (7) And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is true. (8) There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood: and all three are in agreement. (9) If we take the witness of men to be true, the witness of God is greater: because this is the witness which God has given about his Son. (10) He who has faith in the Son of God has the witness in himself: he who has not faith in God makes him false, because he has not faith in the witness which God has given about his Son. (11) And his witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (12) He who has the Son has the life; he who has not the Son of God has not the life. (13) I have put these things in writing for you who have faith in the name of the Son of God, so that you may be certain that you have eternal life. (14) And we are certain that if we make any request to him which is right in his eyes, he will give ear to us: (15) And if we are certain that he gives ear to all our requests, we are equally certain that we will get our requests.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
The Translations we quote are:

ALT - Analytical Literal Translation

ASV - American Standard Version (by the American revision committee in 1897).

Darby - 1889 Darby Bible

DRB - 1899 Douay-Rheims Bible

BBE - 1965 Bible in Basic English

LITV - Literal Translation of the Holy Bible

KJV - King James Version

MKJV - Modern King James Version

NWT - New World Translation
