These verses expose a composite "Man Of Lawlessness" which Jesus warned his followers would come. The one "acting as a restraint" is Jesus and his apostles. This deceiver among men did manifest himself after their day in the form of the apostate chruches, bringing about the dark ages. In these last days, the truth is flashing forth for healing [Prov 4:18] in a simple awakening to Christ's teachings; to expose and destroy the lies propagated in God's name by the Man of Lawlessness: By all these self righteous but wicked religious men.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 CEV
(3) But don't be fooled! People will rebel against God. Then before the Lord returns, the wicked one (or man of lawlessness) who is doomed to be destroyed will appear. [John 9:4] (4) He will brag and oppose everything that is holy or sacred. He will even sit in God's temple and claim to be God (or that he is replacing Christ as God's representative). (5) Don't you remember that I told you this while I was still with you? (6) You already know what is holding this wicked one back until it is time for him to come. (7) His mysterious power is already at work, but someone is holding him back. And the wicked one won't appear until that someone is out of the way. (8) Then he will appear, but the Lord Jesus will kill him simply by breathing on him. He will be completely destroyed by the Lord's glorious return. (9) When the wicked one appears, Satan will pretend to work all kinds of miracles, wonders, and signs. (10) Lost people will be fooled by his evil deeds. They could be saved, but they will refuse to love the truth and accept it. (11) So God will make sure that they are fooled into believing a lie. (12) All of them will be punished, because they would rather do evil than believe the truth. [John 3:19]

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 GW
(3) Don't let anyone deceive you about this in any way. That day cannot come unless a revolt takes place first, and the man of sin, the man of destruction, is revealed. [John 9:4] (4) He opposes every so-called god or anything that is worshiped and places himself above them, sitting in God's temple and claiming to be God (or God's chosen representative). (5) Don't you remember that I told you about these things when I was still with you? (6) You know what it is that now holds him back, so that he will be revealed when his time comes. (7) The mystery of this sin is already at work. But it cannot work effectively until the person now holding it back gets out of the way. (8) Then the man of sin will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will destroy him by what he says. When the Lord Jesus comes, his appearance will put an end to this man. (9) The man of sin will come with the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous and wonderful signs. But they will be lies. (10) He will use everything that God disapproves of to deceive those who are dying, those who refused to love the truth that would save them. (11) That's why God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe a lie. (12) Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with what God disapproves of, will be condemned. [John 3:19]

2 Thessalonians 2:3-10 NWT
3 Let no one seduce you in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. [John 9:4] 4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called "god" or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god (or that he is replacing Christ as God's representative). 5 Do you not remember that, while I was yet with you, I used to tell you these things? 6 And so now you know the thing that acts as a restraint, with a view to his being revealed in his own due time. 7 True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work; but only till he who is right now acting as a restraint gets to be out of the way. 8 Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence. 9 But the lawless one's presence is according to the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and portents 10 and with every unrighteous deception for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth that they might be saved. 11 So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie, 12 in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness. [John 3:19]

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 ESV
(3) Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, [John 9:4] (4) who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God (or that he is replacing Christ as God's representative). (5) Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? (6) And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. (7) For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. (8) And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. (9) The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, (10) and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. (11) Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, (12) in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. [John 3:19]

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
