Acts 8:1-3 ALT
(1) Now Saul was giving approval to his murder. Then in that day a great persecution took place on the assembly, the one in Jerusalem, and all were scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. (2) (Now devout men prepared Stephen for burial, and they themselves made loud wailing over him.) (3) But Saul began making havoc of the Assembly: entering every house, dragging off both men and women, handing them over to prison.

(1) And Saul gave approval to his death. Now at that time a violent attack was started against the church in Jerusalem; and all but the Apostles went away into all parts of Judaea and Samaria. (2) And God-fearing men put Stephen's body in its last resting-place, making great weeping over him. (3) But Saul was burning with hate against the church, going into every house and taking men and women and putting them in prison.

All the believers, except the apostles, were scattered throughout the provinces of Judea and Samaria. (2) Some devout men buried Stephen, mourning for him with loud cries. (3) But Saul tried to destroy the church; going from house to house, he dragged out the believers, both men and women, and threw them into jail.
