John 18:28-32 GNB
(28) Early in the morning Jesus was taken from Caiaphas' house to the governor's palace. The Jewish authorities did not go inside the palace, for they wanted to keep themselves ritually clean, in order to be able to eat the Passover meal. (29) So Pilate went outside to them and asked, "What do you accuse this man of ?" (30) Their answer was, "We would not have brought him to you if he had not committed a crime." (31) Pilate said to them, "Then you yourselves take him and try him according to your own law." They replied, "We are not allowed to put anyone to death." (32) (This happened in order to make come true what Jesus had said when he indicated the kind of death he would die.)

John 18:28-32 NWT
28 Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace. It was now early in the day. But they themselves did not enter into the governor's palace, that they might not get defiled but might eat the passover. 29 Therefore Pilate came outside to them and said: "What accusation do you bring against this man?" 30 In answer they said to him: "If this man were not a wrongdoer, we would not have delivered him up to you." 31 Hence Pilate said to them: "Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law." The Jews said to him: "It is not lawful for us to kill anyone." 32 This, in order that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which he said to signify what sort of death he was destined to die.

John 18:28-32 CEV
(28) It was early in the morning when Jesus was taken from Caiaphas to the building where the Roman governor stayed. But the crowd waited outside. Any of them who had gone inside would have become unclean and would not be allowed to eat the Passover meal. (29) Pilate came out and asked, "What charges are you bringing against this man?" (30) They answered, "He is a criminal! That's why we brought him to you." (31) Pilate told them, "Take him and judge him by your own laws." The crowd replied, "We are not allowed to put anyone to death." (32) And so what Jesus said about his death would soon come true.

John 18:28-32 ESV
(28) Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor's headquarters. It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor's headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover. (29) So Pilate went outside to them and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?" (30) They answered him, "If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you." (31) Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." The Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death." (32) This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to show by what kind of death he was going to die.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
The Translations we quote are:

ALT - Analytical Literal Translation

ASV - American Standard Version (by the American revision committee in 1897).
