John 3:16-21 NWT "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent forth his Son into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him. 18 He that exercises faith in him is not to be judged. He that does not exercise faith has been judged already, because he has not exercised faith in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. 19 Now this is the basis for judgment, that the light has come into the world but men have loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were wicked. 20 For he that practices vile things hates the light and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be reproved. 21 But he that does what is true comes to the light, in order that his works may be made manifest as having been worked in harmony with God." (John 12:44-50)

John 3:16-21 GNB For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. (17) For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. (18) Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God's only Son. (19) This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil. (20) Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up. (21) But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God. (John 12:44-50)

John 3:16-21 ALT (16) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten [or, unique] Son, so that every [one] believing [or, trusting] in Him shall not perish, _but_ shall be having eternal life! (17) "For God did not send His Son into the world so that He should judge the world, _but_ so that the world shall be saved through Him. (18) "The one believing [or, trusting] in Him is not judged, but the one not believing already has been judged, because he has not believed in the Name of the only-begotten [or, unique] Son of God. (19) "Now this is the (basis of) judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their works were evil. (20) "For every [one] practicing wicked [things] hates the Light and does not come towards the Light, so that his works shall not be exposed. (21) "But the one doing the truth comes towards the Light, so that his works shall be revealed, that they have been done in God." (John 12:44-50)

John 3:16-21 BBE (16) For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life. (17) God did not send his Son into the world to be judge of the world; he sent him so that the world might have salvation through him. (18) The man who has faith in him does not come up to be judged; but he who has no faith in him has been judged even now, because he has no faith in the name of the only Son of God. (19) And this is the test by which men are judged: the light has come into the world and men have more love for the dark than for the light, because their acts are evil. (20) The light is hated by everyone whose acts are evil and he does not come to the light for fear that his acts will be seen. (21) But he whose life is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his acts have been done by the help of God. (John 12:44-50)

John 3:16-21 DRB
(16) For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world: but that the world may be saved by him. (18) He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (19) And this is the judgment: Because the light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil. (20) For every one that doth evil hateth the light and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved. (21) But he that doth truth cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest: because they are done in God. (John 12:44-50)

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
The Translations we quote are:
