John 5:19-30 BBE (19) So Jesus made answer and said, Truly I say to you, The Son is not able to do anything himself; he is able to do only what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does the Son does it in the same way. (20) For the Father has love for the Son and lets him see everything which he does: and he will let him see greater works than these so that you may be full of wonder. (21) In the same way, as the Father gives life to the dead, even so the Son gives life to those to whom he is pleased to give it. (22) The Father is not the judge of men, but he has given all decisions into the hands of the Son; (23) So that all men may give honour to the Son even as they give honour to the Father. He who gives no honour to the Son gives no honour to the Father who sent him. (24) Truly I say to you, The man whose ears are open to my word and who has faith in him who sent me, has eternal life; he will not be judged, but has come from death into life. (25) Truly I say to you, The time is coming, it has even now come, when the voice of the Son of God will come to the ears of the (physically living but spiritually) dead (John 5:24; 1 John 3:13‑14), and those hearing it will have life. (26) For even as the Father has life in himself, so he has given to the Son to have life in himself. (27) And he has given him authority to be judge because he is the Son of man. (28) Do not be surprised at this: for the time is coming when his voice will come to all who are in the place of the dead, (29) And they will come out; those who have done good, into the new life; and those who have done evil, to be judged. (30) Of myself I am unable to do anything: as the voice comes to me so I give a decision: and my decision is right because I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, but only what is pleasing to him who sent me.

John 5:19-30 ALT (19) So Jesus answered and said to them, "Most positively, I say to you*, the Son is not able to be doing anything of Himself unless He sees the Father doing [it], for whatever He is doing, these also the Son likewise does. (20) "For the Father affectionately loves the Son and shows to Him all which He Himself does, and greater works than these He will show to Him, so that _you*_ shall be marveling. (21) "For even as the Father raises the dead [ones] and makes alive, so also the Son makes alive whom He wills. (22) "For neither does the Father judge anyone, _but_ He has given all judgment to the Son, (23) so that all shall be honoring the Son just as they honor the Father. The one not honoring the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. (24) "Most positively, I say to you*, the one hearing My word and believing [or, trusting] the One having sent Me has eternal life and does not come into judgment, _but_ has passed from death into life! (25) "Most positively, I say to you*, an hour is coming and now is when the (physically living but spiritually) dead [ones] (John 5:24; 1 John 3:13‑14) will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard will live. (26) "For even as the Father has life in Himself, so He gave also to the Son to be having life in Himself. (27) "And He gave also to Him authority to be making judgment, because He is [the] Son of Humanity. (28) "Stop marveling at this, because an hour is coming in which all those in the tombs will hear His voice, (29) and they will come forth: the ones having done the good [things] into a resurrection of life, but the ones having practiced the wicked [things] into a resurrection of judgment. (30) "_I_ am not able to be doing anything of Myself. Just as I hear I judge, and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My will _but_ the will of the Father having sent Me.

John 5:19-30 CEV (19) Jesus told the people: I tell you for certain that the Son cannot do anything on his own. He can do only what he sees the Father doing, and he does exactly what he sees the Father do. (20) The Father loves the Son and has shown him everything he does. The Father will show him even greater things, and you will be amazed. (21) Just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so the Son gives life to anyone he wants to. (22) The Father doesn't judge anyone, but he has made his Son the judge of everyone. (23) The Father wants all people to honor the Son as much as they honor him. When anyone refuses to honor the Son, that is the same as refusing to honor the Father who sent him. (24) I tell you for certain that everyone who hears my message and has faith in the one who sent me has eternal life and will never be condemned. They have already gone from death to life. (25) I tell you for certain that the time will come, and it is already here, when all of the (physically living but spiritually) dead [ones] (John 5:24; 1 John 3:13‑14) will hear the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen to it will live! (26) The Father has the power to give life, and he has given that same power to the Son. (27) And he has given his Son the right to judge everyone, because he is the Son of Man. (28) Don't be surprised! The time will come when all of the dead will hear the voice of the Son of Man, (29) and they will come out of their graves. Everyone who has done good things will rise to life, but everyone who has done evil things will rise and be [judged]. (30) I cannot do anything on my own. The Father sent me, and he is the one who told me how to judge. I judge with fairness, because I obey him, and I don't just try to please myself.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
The Translations we quote are:

ALT - Analytical Literal Translation

ASV - American Standard Version (by the American revision committee in 1897).
