How the Bible teaches.

The Bible teaches through the use of word pictures which illustrate principles; Bible principles help us understand (or become our understanding of) how God feels about what is right and wrong, and why he feels that way.

As an example: A Jewish man asked Jesus what he needed to do to be saved. Jesus asked him what he read in the Jewish law. The man recognized he needed to love God and neighbor. Jesus told the man he had answered correctly; And to keep on doing that and he would get life. But "wanting to prove himself righteous" (The Bible sometimes explains why people did things, along with telling us what they did.) the man asked, "Who really is my neighbor?" To help him understand, Jesus gave him a word picture about a man that fell among robbers; who beat him and left him for dead. First a priest, and then a Levite (both Jewish religious leaders), crossed the road so as to pass the injured man by. Finally a Samaritan (a person despised as lower caste by both the priests and Levites) came by and cared for and helped the man. Which of the three proved himself neighbor to the man in need, Jesus asked. The one who acted mercifully toward him came the reply. Jesus said to him: "Go your way and be doing the same yourself." (Please read Luke 10:25-37) Anyone hearing and taking to heart Jesus's illustration should be well on their way to understanding God's intent that we "love our neighbor as ourselves." Love of neighbor is a principle, and is required of those who love Christ. (1 John 4:20-21) Principles help us to love and to do what is right and good from the heart, and are far superior to laws.

The preparation and revelation of God's plan of salvation is amazing; and is a lot to grasp not only for imperfect humans, but even for angels. (*1 - 1 Peter 1:10-12) The word pictures provided in the Bible, sort of stack up and interlock in our mind to provide an overview of the Bible theme, and to reveal truth in our heart. The Bible has been likened to a paint by numbers set, with each scripture we learn being a brush stroke on the canvas of our mind. It is scriptural principles which paint the mental picture of truth. No other book or literature, and no man or group of men, can do that for  us  you. Contained in the Bible, you see, we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16) It is wonderful how, by his Bible teachings, God makes this sacred secret understandable to us. (Romans 16:25 ; Matthew 18:2-3 ; Mark 4:11)

Do not underestimate the value and power of the Bible. (Heb_4:12) Read in your Bible every single day! In it are the sayings of life and happiness. (John 6:68-69 ; John 15:11) Think about that, your life depends on your knowledge of Bible teachings. (John 17:3) Start by becoming very familiar with the teachings of Jesus as recorded by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and the Apostle John. A summation of Jesus's teachings is very simple: Love God and neighbor. Are you able to talk about God and his teachings to demonstrate you know that to be true? To be pleasing to our Father, you must be defining yourself as a person who will not do harm to others. You must also be defining yourself as a person who will not pass others by when they have been harmed. How could it really be otherwise? The Bible principle about the man who fell among robbers should help you understand why that is true. Learning Bible principles is learning a new language. (Zep_3:9)

*1 (1 Peter 1:10-12) . . .Concerning this very salvation a diligent inquiry and a careful search were made by the prophets who prophesied about the undeserved kindness meant for YOU. 11 They kept on investigating what particular season or what sort of [season] the spirit in them was indicating concerning Christ when it was bearing witness beforehand about the sufferings for Christ and about the glories to follow these. 12 It was revealed to them that, not to themselves, but to YOU, they were ministering the things that have now been announced to YOU through those who have declared the good news to YOU with holy spirit sent forth from heaven. Into these very things angels are desiring to peer.
