Introduction to Luke Chapter 2

You will note the Bible often uses terms like "in the days of this ruler and that ruler." The Bible writers didn't have our modern calendar system to record the dates things happened, so telling who was in power over some area at the time of the event was the best way of recording when things happened. Simeon and Anna give witness that Jesus is the anticipated Christ and Simeon warns Mary of her coming temporary pain respecting her son. At 12 years of age, Jesus amazes the religions leaders with his knowledge of God.
