Introduction to Luke Chap. 4

Jesus is tempted by Satan as he quotes scripture trying to entice Jesus to abandon his allegiance to his God and Father. (John 20:17) Jesus teaches in the synagogue and applies the prophecy of Isaiah 61:1-2 to himself, saying he came to proclaim the Gospel to the poor, heal broken hearted ones, restore sight to the blind and make known the acceptable year of   יהוה  . Jesus starts explaining to the Jews God is going to include non-Jews in his favor. Jesus heals all who come to him. He rebukes the demons for trying to too quickly make known Jesus is the Son of God. The people knowing who he is try to restrain him within their midst. That would be against God's will for Jesus to go preaching the good news of salvation. (John 18:37b)
