1 Corinthians 4:6-7 NWT
Now, brothers, these things I have transferred so as to apply to myself and Apollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: "Do not go beyond the things that are written," in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.
7 For who makes you to differ from another? Indeed, what do you have that you did not receive? If, now, you did indeed receive [it], why do you boast as though you did not receive [it]?
These Bible verses provide sobering warning about what you choose to believe and certainly to teach. Don't go beyond what is written in God's word the Bible... Jesus warned about false prophets (Mat 7:15) who would try to twist the holy writings to suit their own ideas. (2 Pet 3:14‑18; 2 Tim 3:14‑17) God said to listen to Jesus (Mat 17:5) and so you can depend on the words of Christ recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Brothers and sisters, I have applied this to Apollos and myself for your sake. You should learn from us not to go beyond what is written in Scripture. Then you won't arrogantly place one of us in opposition to the other. (7) Who says that you are any better than other people? What do you have that wasn't given to you? If you were given what you have, why are you bragging as if it weren't a gift?

(6) Friends, I have used Apollos and myself as examples to teach you the meaning of the saying, "Follow the rules." I want you to stop saying that one of us is better than the other.
(7) What is so special about you? What do you have that you were not given? And if it was given to you, how can you brag?
