1 John 2:20-27 GNB ...But you have had the Holy Spirit poured out on you by Christ, (John 6:63) and so all of you know the truth. (21) I write you, then, not because you do not know the truth; instead, it is because you do know it, and you also know that no lie ever comes from the truth. (22) Who, then, is the liar? It is those who say that Jesus is not the Messiah. Such people are the Enemy of Christ---they reject both the Father and the Son. (23) For those who reject the Son reject also the Father; those who accept the Son have the Father also. (24) Be sure, then, to keep in your hearts the message you heard from the beginning. If you keep that message, then you will always live in union with the Son and the Father. (25) And this is what Christ himself promised to give us---eternal life. (26) I am writing this to you about those who are trying to deceive you. (27) But as for you, Christ has poured out his Spirit on you. As long as his Spirit remains in you, (John 6:63) you do not need anyone to teach you. For his Spirit teaches you about everything, and what he teaches is true, not false. Obey the Spirit's teaching, then, and remain in union with Christ.

1 John 2:20-27 BBE ...And you have the Spirit from the Holy One (John 6:63) and you all have knowledge. (21) I have not sent you this letter because you have no knowledge of what is true, but because you have knowledge, and because that which is false has nothing in common with that which is true. (22) Who is false but he who says that Jesus is not the Christ? He is the Antichrist who has no belief in the Father or the Son. (23) He who has no belief in the Son has not the Father: he who makes clear his belief in the Son has the Father. (24) But as for you, keep in your hearts the things which were made clear to you from the first. If you keep these things in your hearts you will be kept in the Father and the Son. (25) And this is the hope which he gave you, even eternal life. (26) I am writing these things to you about those whose purpose is that you may be turned out of the true way. (27) As for you, the Spirit which he gave (John 6:63) you is still in you, and you have no need of any teacher; but as his Spirit gives you teaching about all things, and is true and not false, so keep your hearts in him, through the teaching which he has given you.

1 John 2:20-27 NWT ...And YOU have an anointing from the holy one; all of YOU have knowledge [knowledge of the words of Christ is our anointing (John 6:63)]. 21 I write YOU, not because YOU do not know the truth, but because YOU know it, and because no lie originates with the truth. 22 Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son. 23 Everyone that denies the Son does not have the Father either. He that confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for YOU, let that which YOU have heard from [the] beginning remain in YOU. If that which YOU have heard from [the] beginning remains in YOU, YOU will also abide in union with the Son and in union with the Father. 25 Furthermore, this is the promised thing that he himself promised us, the life everlasting. 26 These things I write YOU about those who are trying to mislead YOU. 27 And as for YOU, the anointing that YOU received from him remains in YOU, (John 6:63) and YOU do not need anyone to be teaching YOU; but, as the anointing from him is teaching YOU about all things, and is true and is no lie, and just as it has taught YOU, remain in union with him.

1 John 2:20-27 CEV ...Christ, the Holy One, has blessed you, (John 6:63) and now all of you understand. (21) I did not need to write you about the truth, since you already know it. You also know that liars do not belong to the truth. (22) And a liar is anyone who says that Jesus isn't truly Christ. Anyone who says this is an enemy of Christ and rejects both the Father and the Son. (23) If we reject the Son, we reject the Father. But if we say that we accept the Son, we have the Father. (24) Keep thinking about the message you first heard, and you will always be one in your heart with the Son and with the Father. (25) The Son has promised us eternal life. (26) I am writing to warn you about those people who are misleading you. (27) But Christ has blessed you with the Holy Spirit. (John 6:63) Now the Spirit stays in you, and you don't need any teachers. The Spirit is truthful and teaches you everything. So stay one in your heart with Christ, just as the Spirit has taught you to do.

1 John 2:20-27 ESV ...But you have been anointed by the Holy One [or Holy Spirit], (John 6:63) and you all have knowledge. (21) I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. (22) Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. (23) No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. (24) Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. (25) And this is the promise that he made to us--eternal life. (26) I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. (27) But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, (John 6:63) and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie--just as it has taught you, abide in him.

1 John 2:20-27 GW ...The Holy One has anointed you, (John 6:63) so all of you have knowledge. (21) I'm writing to you because you know the truth, not because you don't know the truth. You know that no lie ever comes from the truth. (22) Who is a liar? Who else but the person who rejects Jesus as the Messiah? The person who rejects the Father and the Son is an antichrist. (23) Everyone who rejects the Son doesn't have the Father either. The person who acknowledges the Son also has the Father. (24) Make sure that the message you heard from the beginning lives in you. If that message lives in you, you will also live in the Son and in the Father. (25) Christ has given us the promise of eternal life. (26) I'm writing to you about those who are trying to deceive you. (27) The anointing you received from Christ lives in you. (John 6:63) You don't need anyone to teach you something else. Instead, Christ's anointing teaches you about everything. His anointing is true and contains no lie. So live in Christ as he taught you to do.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
