1 John 3:19-4:10 CEV When we love others, we know that we belong to the truth, and we feel at ease in the presence of God. (20) But even if we don't feel at ease, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. (21) Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. (22) He will give us whatever we ask, because we obey him and do what pleases him. (23) God wants us to have faith in his Son Jesus (John 6:28-29) Christ and to love each other. This is also what Jesus taught us to do. (24) If we obey God's commandments, we will stay one in our hearts with him, and he will stay one with us. The Spirit that he has given us is proof that we are one with him. (Knowledge of Christ's words... John 6:63)
1 John 4:1-10 CEV Dear friends, don't believe everyone who claims to have the Spirit of God. Test them all to find out if they really do come from God. Many false prophets have already gone out into the world, (2) and you can know which ones come from God. His Spirit says that Jesus Christ had a truly human body. (3) But when someone doesn't say this about Jesus, you know that person has a spirit that doesn't come from God and is the enemy of Christ. You knew that this enemy was coming into the world and now is already here. (4) Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God's Spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world. (5) These enemies belong to this world, and the world listens to them, because they speak its language. (6) We belong to God, and everyone who knows God will listen to us. But the people who don't know God won't listen to us. That is how we can tell the Spirit that speaks the truth from the one that tells lies. (7) My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God's children, and we know him. (8) God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him. (9) God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. (10) Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.
1 John 3:19-4:10 GW This is how we will know that we belong to the truth and how we will be reassured in his presence. (20) Whenever our conscience condemns us, we will be reassured that God is greater than our conscience and knows everything. (21) Dear friends, if our conscience doesn't condemn us, we can boldly look to God (22) and receive from him anything we ask. We receive it because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him. (23) This is his commandment: to believe in his Son, the one named Jesus Christ, and to love each other as he commanded us. (24) Those who obey Christ's commandments live in God, and God lives in them. We know that he lives in us because he has given us the Spirit. (Knowledge of Christ's words... John 6:63)
1 John 4:1-10 GW Dear friends, don't believe all people who say that they have the Spirit. Instead, test them. See whether the spirit they have is from God, because there are many false prophets in the world. (2) This is how you can recognize God's Spirit: Every person who declares that Jesus Christ has come as a human has the Spirit that is from God. (3) But every person who doesn't declare that Jesus Christ has come as a human has a spirit that isn't from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that you have heard is coming. That spirit is already in the world. (4) Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (5) These people belong to the world. That's why they speak the thoughts of the world, and the world listens to them. (6) We belong to God. The person who knows God listens to us. Whoever doesn't belong to God doesn't listen to us. That's how we can tell the Spirit of truth from the spirit of lies. (7) Dear friends, we must love each other because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. (8) The person who doesn't love doesn't know God, because God is love. (9) God has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him. (10) This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins.
1 John 3:19-4:10 GNB This, then, is how we will know that we belong to the truth; this is how we will be confident in God's presence. (20) If our conscience condemns us, we know that God is greater than our conscience and that he knows everything. (21) And so, my dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have courage in God's presence. (22) We receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. (23) What he commands is that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as Christ commanded us. (24) Those who obey God's commands live in union with God and God lives in union with them. And because of the Spirit that God has given us we know that God lives in union with us. (Knowledge of Christ's words... John 6:63)
1 John 4:1-10 GNB My dear friends, do not believe all who claim to have the Spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere. (2) This is how you will be able to know whether it is God's Spirit: anyone who acknowledges that Jesus Christ came as a human being has the Spirit who comes from God. (3) But anyone who denies this about Jesus does not have the Spirit from God. The spirit that he has is from the Enemy of Christ; you heard that it (the anitchrist) would come, and now it is here in the world already. (4) But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world. (5) Those false prophets speak about matters of the world, and the world listens to them because they belong to the world. (6) But we belong to God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever does not belong to God does not listen to us. This, then, is how we can tell the difference between the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (7) Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. (8) Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. (9) And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. (10) This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.
1 John 3:19-4:10 NWT 19 By this we shall know that we originate with the truth, and we shall assure our hearts before him 20 as regards whatever our hearts may condemn us in, because God is greater than our hearts and knows all things. 21 Beloved ones, if [our] hearts do not condemn [us], we have freeness of speech toward God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we are observing his commandments and are doing the things that are pleasing in his eyes. 23 Indeed, this is his commandment, that we have faith in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and be loving one another, just as he gave us commandment. 24 Moreover, he who observes his commandments remains in union with him, and he in union with such one; and by this we gain the knowledge that he is remaining in union with us, owing to the spirit which he gave us. (Knowledge of Christ's words... John 6:63)
4 Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world. 2 YOU gain the knowledge of the inspired expression from God by this: Every inspired expression that confesses Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh originates with God, 3 but every inspired expression that does not confess Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist’s [inspired expression] which YOU have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 YOU originate with God, little children, and YOU have conquered those [persons], because he that is in union with YOU is greater than he that is in union with the world. 5 They originate with the world; that is why they speak [what proceeds] from the world and the world listens to them. 6 We originate with God. He that gains the knowledge of God listens to us; he that does not originate with God does not listen to us. This is how we take note of the inspired expression of truth and the inspired expression of error. 7 Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and gains the knowledge of God. 8 He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. 9 By this the love of God was made manifest in our case, because God sent forth his only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him. 10 The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent forth his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
