2 Peter 3:3-7 CEV But first you must realize that in the last days some people won't think about anything except their own selfish desires. They will make fun of you (4) and say, "Didn't your Lord promise to come back? Yet the first leaders have already died, and the world hasn't changed a bit." (5) They will say this because they want to forget that long ago the heavens and the earth were made at God's command. The earth came out of water and was made from water. (6) Later it was destroyed by the waters of a mighty flood. (7) But God has commanded the present heavens and earth to remain until the day of judgment. Then they will be set on fire, and ungodly people will be destroyed.
2 Peter 3:3-7 GW First, you must understand this: In the last days people who follow their own desires will appear. These disrespectful people will ridicule God's promise (4) by saying, "What's happened to his promise to return? Ever since our ancestors died, everything continues as it did from the beginning of the world." (5) They are deliberately ignoring one fact: Because of God's word, heaven and earth existed a long time ago. The earth appeared out of water and was kept alive by water. (6) Water also flooded and destroyed that world. (7) By God's word, the present heaven and earth are designated to be burned. They are being kept until the day ungodly people will be judged and destroyed.
2 Peter 3:3-7 GNB First of all, you must understand that in the last days some people will appear whose lives are controlled by their own lusts. They will make fun of you (4) and will ask, "He promised to come, didn't he? Where is he? Our ancestors have already died, but everything is still the same as it was since the creation of the world!" (5) They purposely ignore the fact that long ago God gave a command, and the heavens and earth were created. The earth was formed out of water and by water, (6) and it was also by water, the water of the flood, that the old world was destroyed. (7) But the heavens and the earth that now exist are being preserved by the same command of God, in order to be destroyed by fire. They are being kept for the day when godless people will be judged and destroyed.
2 Peter 3:3-7 ESV knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. (4) They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation." (5) For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, (6) and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. (7) But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
