(1) And when the Day of Pentecost [had] come, they were all with one mind at the same [place].
(2) And suddenly [there] came from heaven a sound like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
(3) And [there] appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and [one] sat on each one of them.
(4) And they were all filled of [or, with] [the] Holy Spirit, and they began to be speaking with different tongues [fig., foreign languages], just as the Spirit was giving them to be declaring boldly.
(5) Now [there] were Jews dwelling in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of the [ones] under heaven.
(6) Now this sound having occurred, the crowd came together and was bewildered, because they were each one hearing them speaking in his own language.
(7) Then they themselves were all being amazed and were marveling, saying to one another, "Listen! All these [who] are speaking are Galileans, are they not?
(8) "And how [is it that] we each hear in our own language in which we were born?

(1) On the day of Pentecost all the Lord's followers were together in one place.
(2) Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting.
(3) Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there.
(4) The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak.
(5) Many religious Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem.
(6) And when they heard this noise, a crowd gathered. But they were surprised, because they were hearing everything in their own languages.
(7) They were excited and amazed, and said: Don't all these who are speaking come from Galilee?
(8) Then why do we hear them speaking our very own languages?

(5) And Jews were living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven.
(6) But this sound occurring, the multitude came together and were confounded, because they each heard them speaking in his own dialect.
(7) And all were amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these, those speaking, Galileans?
(8) And how do we hear each in our own dialect in which we were born,
