Acts 8:18-22 GW Simon saw that the Spirit was given to the Samaritans when the apostles placed their hands on them. So he offered Peter and John money (19) and said, "Give me this power so that anyone I place my hands on will receive the Holy Spirit." (20) Peter told Simon, "May your money be destroyed with you because you thought you could buy God's gift. (21) You won't have any share in this because God can see how twisted your thinking is. (22) So change your wicked thoughts, and ask the Lord if he will forgive you for thinking like this.
Acts 8:18-22 CEV Simon noticed that the Spirit was given only when the apostles placed their hands on the people. So he brought money (19) and said to Peter and John, "Let me have this power too! Then anyone I place my hands on will also be given the Holy Spirit." (20) Peter said to him, "You and your money will both end up in hell if you think you can buy God's gift! (21) You don't have any part in this, and God sees that your heart isn't right. (22) Get rid of these evil thoughts and ask God to forgive you.
Acts 8:18-22 ESV Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, (19) saying, "Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." (20) But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! (21) You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. (22) Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
Acts 8:18-22 NWT 18 Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the hands of the apostles the spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying: “Give me also this authority, that anyone upon whom I lay my hands may receive holy spirit.” 20 But Peter said to him: “May your silver perish with you, because you thought through money to get possession of the free gift of God. 21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not straight in the sight of God. 22 Repent, therefore, of this badness of yours, and supplicate Jehovah ( יהוה ) that, if possible, the device of your heart may be forgiven you;
