••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••

Amos 3:6-8 CEV ...Isn't the whole city frightened when the trumpet signals an attack? Isn't it the LORD  (יהוה) who brings disaster on a city? (7) Whatever the LORD  (יהוה) God plans to do, he tells his servants, the prophets. (8) Everyone is terrified when a lion roars-- and ordinary people become prophets when the LORD  (יהוה) God speaks.

Amos 3:6-8 GNB ...Does the war trumpet sound in a city without making the people afraid? Does disaster strike a city unless the LORD  (יהוה) sends it? (7) The Sovereign LORD  (יהוה) never does anything without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets. (8) When a lion roars, who can keep from being afraid? When the Sovereign LORD  (יהוה) speaks, who can keep from proclaiming his message?

Amos 3:6-8 ESV ...Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the LORD  (יהוה) has done it? (7) "For the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. (8) The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken; who can but prophesy?"

Amos 3:6-8 GW ...If a ram's horn sounds an alarm in a city, won't the people be alarmed? If there is a disaster in a city, hasn't the LORD  (יהוה) done it? (7) Certainly, the Almighty LORD  (יהוה) doesn't do anything unless he first reveals his secret to his servants the prophets. (8) The lion has roared. Who isn't afraid? The Almighty LORD  (יהוה) has spoken. Who can keep from prophesying?

Amos 3:6-8 LITV ...If a ram's horn is blowing in a city, will the people not also tremble? If there is a calamity in a city, has Jehovah  (יהוה) not even done it? (7) For the Lord Jehovah  (יהוה) will do nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. (8) A lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah  (יהוה) has spoken, who will not prophesy?

Amos 3:6-8 NWT ...If a horn is blown in a city, do not also the people themselves tremble? If a calamity occurs in the city, is it not also Jehovah  (יהוה) who has acted? 7 For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah  (יהוה) will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets. 8 There is a lion that has roared! Who will not be afraid? The Sovereign Lord Jehovah  (יהוה) himself has spoken! Who will not prophesy?’

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
