Pharaoh had abandoned his abuse of the people of יהוה because of the great works God had done in his presence through Moses. Sadly, it didn't change his badness. As with all who are bad, they compel יהוה that their death is the only solution for them.
Exodus 14:5-28 NWT . . .Later it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had run away. Immediately the heart of Phar´aoh as well as his servants was changed regarding the people, so that they said: “What is this that we have done, in that we have sent Israel away from slaving for us?” 6 So he proceeded to make his war chariots ready, and he took his people with him. 7 And he proceeded to take six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt and warriors upon every one of them. 8 Thus Jehovah (יהוה) let the heart of Phar´aoh the king of Egypt become obstinate, and he went chasing after the sons of Israel, while the sons of Israel were going out with uplifted hand. 9 And the Egyptians went chasing after them, and all the chariot horses of Phar´aoh and his cavalrymen and his military forces were overtaking them while camping by the sea, by Pi·ha·hi´roth in view of Ba´al-ze´phon. 10 When Phar´aoh got close by, the sons of Israel began to raise their eyes and here the Egyptians were marching after them; and the sons of Israel got quite afraid and began to cry out to Jehovah (יהוה). 11 And they proceeded to say to Moses: “Is it because there are no burial places at all in Egypt that you have taken us here to die in the wilderness? What is this that you have done to us in leading us out of Egypt? 12 Is this not the word we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than for us to die in the wilderness.” 13 Then Moses said to the people: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and see the salvation of Jehovah (יהוה), which he will perform for YOU today. For the Egyptians whom YOU do see today YOU will not see again, no, never again. 14 Jehovah (יהוה) will himself fight for YOU, and YOU yourselves will be silent.” 15 Jehovah (יהוה) now said to Moses: “Why do you keep crying out to me? Speak to the sons of Israel that they should break camp. 16 As for you, lift up your rod and stretch your hand out over the sea and split it apart, that the sons of Israel may go through the midst of the sea on dry land. 17 As for me, here I am letting the hearts of the Egyptians become obstinate, that they may go in after them and that I may get glory for myself by means of Phar´aoh and all his military forces, his war chariots and his cavalrymen. 18 And the Egyptians will certainly know that I am Jehovah (יהוה) when I get glory for myself by means of Phar´aoh, his war chariots and his cavalrymen.” 19 Then the angel of the [true] God who was going ahead of the camp of Israel departed and went to their rear, and the pillar of cloud departed from their van and stood in the rear of them. 20 So it came in between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. On the one hand it proved to be a cloud together with darkness. On the other hand it kept lighting up the night. And this group did not come near that group all night long. 21 Moses now stretched his hand out over the sea; and Jehovah (יהוה) began making the sea go back by a strong east wind all night long and converting the sea basin into dry ground, and the waters were being split apart. 22 At length the sons of Israel went through the midst of the sea on dry land, while the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians took up the pursuit, and all the horses of Phar´aoh, his war chariots and his cavalrymen began going in after them, into the midst of the sea. 24 And it came about during the morning watch that Jehovah (יהוה) began to look out upon the camp of the Egyptians from within the pillar of fire and cloud, and he went throwing the camp of the Egyptians into confusion. 25 And he kept taking wheels off their chariots so that they were driving them with difficulty; and the Egyptians began to say: “Let us flee from any contact with Israel, because Jehovah (יהוה) certainly fights for them against the Egyptians.” 26 Finally Jehovah (יהוה) said to Moses: “Stretch your hand out over the sea, that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, their war chariots and their cavalrymen.” 27 Moses at once stretched his hand out over the sea, and the sea began to come back to its normal condition at the approaching of morning. All the while the Egyptians were fleeing from encountering it, but Jehovah (יהוה) shook the Egyptians off into the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters kept coming back. Finally they covered the war chariots and the cavalrymen belonging to all of Phar´aoh’s military forces and who had gone into the sea after them. Not so much as one among them was let remain.
Exodus 14:5-28 MWT . . .When the king of Egypt heard that the Israelites had finally left, he and his officials changed their minds and said, "Look what we have done! We let them get away, and they will no longer be our slaves." (6) The king got his war chariot and army ready. (7) He commanded his officers in charge of his six hundred best chariots and all his other chariots to start after the Israelites. (8) יהוה supported the King's heart of stubbornness so that he went after them, even as the Israelites proudly went on their way. (9) But the king's horses and chariots and soldiers caught up with them while they were camping by the Red Sea near Pi-Hahiroth and Baal-Zephon. (10) When the Israelites saw the king coming with his army, they were frightened and begged יהוה for help. (11) They also complained to Moses, "Wasn't there enough room in Egypt to bury us? Is that why you brought us out here to die in the desert? Why did you bring us out of Egypt anyway? (12) While we were there, didn't we tell you to leave us alone? We had rather be slaves in Egypt than die in this desert!" (13) But Moses answered, "Don't be afraid! Be brave, and you will see יהוה save you today. These Egyptians will never bother you again. (14) יהוה will fight for you, and you won't have to do a thing." (15) יהוה said to Moses, "Why do you keep calling out to me for help? Tell the Israelites to move forward. (16) Then hold your staff over the sea. The water will open up and make a road where they can walk through on dry ground. (17) I will allow the Egyptians to be so stubborn that they will go after you. Then I will be praised because of what happens to the king and his chariots and cavalry. (18) The Egyptians will know for sure that I am יהוה." All (19) this time God's angel had gone ahead of Israel's army, but now he moved behind them. A large cloud had also gone ahead of them, (20) but now it moved between the Egyptians and the Israelites. The cloud gave light to the Israelites, but made it dark for the Egyptians, and during the night they could not come any closer. (21) Moses stretched his arm over the sea, and יהוה sent a strong east wind that blew all night until there was dry land where the water had been. The sea opened up, (22) and the Israelites walked through on dry land with a wall of water on each side. (23) The Egyptian chariots and cavalry went after them. (24) But before daylight the Lord יהוה looked down at the Egyptian army from the fiery cloud and made them panic. (25) Their chariot wheels got stuck and were falling off and they were driving them with diffuculty. So the Egyptians said to one another, "Let's leave these people alone! The Lord יהוה is on their side and is fighting against us." (26) יהוה told Moses, "Stretch your arm toward the sea--the water will cover the Egyptians and their cavalry and chariots." (27) Moses stretched out his arm, and at daybreak the water rushed toward the Egyptians. They tried to run away, but יהוה shook them off and drowned them in the sea. (28) The water came and covered the chariots, the cavalry, and the whole Egyptian army that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them was left alive.

(10) And Pharaoh came near, and the sons of Israel raised their eyes, and, behold! The Egyptians were pulling up after them! And they were greatly afraid. And the sons of Israel cried to Jehovah (יהוה). (11) And they said to Moses, Were there no graves in Egypt, that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What is this you have done to us, to bring us out from Egypt? (12) Is this not the word which we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, Go away from us, and let us serve the Egyptians. For it is good for us to serve the Egyptians, than to die in the wilderness. (13) And Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid. Take your stand and see the salvation of Jehovah (יהוה), which He will prepare for you today. For as you see the Egyptians today, you shall not continue to see them again forever. (14) Jehovah (יהוה) will fight for you, and you be silent. (15) And Jehovah (יהוה) said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Speak to the sons of Israel, and let them pull up stakes. (16) And you, raise your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it so that the sons of Israel may go in the midst of the sea on dry ground. (17) And behold! I am making strong the heart of the Egyptians. And they will go after them. And I will be honored through Pharaoh and through his armies, through his chariots, and through his horsemen. (18) And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah (יהוה), in My being honored through Pharaoh, through his chariots, and through his horsemen. (19) And the Angel of God withdrew, the One going before the camp of Israel. And He went behind them. And the pillar of cloud withdrew from before them, and it stood behind them. (20) And it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. And it was cloudy and dark. And it lit up the night; and this one did not come near to that one all night. (21) And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Jehovah (יהוה) caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night. And He made the sea dry land, and the waters divided. (22) And the sons of Israel came into the middle of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them from their right and from their left. (23) And the Egyptians pursued, and all the horses of Pharaoh came after them, his chariots and his horsemen, into the middle of the sea. (24) And it happened in the morning watch: Jehovah (יהוה) looked on the camp of the Egyptians in the pillar of fire and cloud. And He confused the camp of the Egyptians. (25) And He took off the wheels of their chariots, and made them drive with difficulty. And the Egyptians said, I will flee from the face of Israel, for Jehovah (יהוה) is fighting for them against the Egyptians. (26) And Jehovah (יהוה) said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, and let the waters return on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen. (27) And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its usual flow, at the turning of the morning, and the Egyptians were fleeing to meet it. And Jehovah (יהוה) shook off the Egyptians into the middle of the sea. (28) And the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, together with all the army of Pharaoh, those going after them, into the sea. And not even one was left among them.

What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? (12) Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: 'Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness." (13) And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD (יהוה), which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. (14) The LORD (יהוה) will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." (15) The LORD (יהוה) said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. (16) Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. (17) And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. (18) And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD (יהוה), when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen." (19) Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, (20) coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night. (21) Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD (יהוה) drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. (22) And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. (23) The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. (24) And in the morning watch the LORD (יהוה) in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, (25) clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from before Israel, for the LORD (יהוה) fights for them against the Egyptians." (26) Then the LORD (יהוה) said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen." (27) So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the LORD (יהוה) threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. (28) The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained.
