Galatians 3:19-29 GW
What, then, is the purpose of the laws given to Moses? They were added to identify what wrongdoing is. Moses' laws did this until the descendant to whom the promise was given came. It was put into effect through angels, using a mediator [Moses]. (20) A mediator is not used when there is only one person involved, and God has acted on his own. (21) Does this mean, then, that the laws given to Moses contradict God's promises? That's unthinkable! If those laws could give us life, then certainly we would receive God's approval because we obeyed them. (22) But Scripture states that the whole world is controlled by the power of sin. Therefore, a promise based on faith in Jesus Christ could be given to those who believe. (23) We were kept under control by Moses' laws until this faith came. We were under their control until this faith which was about to come would be revealed. (24) Before Christ came, Moses' laws served as our guardian [or tutor]. Christ came so that we could receive God's approval by faith. (25) But now that this faith has come, we are no longer under the control of a guardian. (26) You are all God's children by believing in Christ Jesus. (27) Clearly, all of you who were baptized in Christ's name have clothed yourselves with Christ. (28) There are neither Jews nor Greeks, slaves nor free people, males nor females. You are all the same in Christ Jesus. (29) If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants and heirs, as God promised.
Galatians 3:19-29 GNB
(19) What, then, was the purpose of the Law? It was added in order to show what wrongdoing is, and it was meant to last until the coming of Abraham's descendant, to whom the promise was made. The Law was handed down by angels, with a man acting as a go-between.
(20) But a go-between is not needed when only one person is involved; and God is one.
(21) Does this mean that the Law is against God's promises? No, not at all! For if human beings had received a law that could bring life, then everyone could be put right with God by obeying it.
(22) But the scripture says that the whole world is under the power of sin; and so the gift which is promised on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ is given to those who believe.
(23) But before the time for faith came, the Law kept us all locked up as prisoners until this coming faith should be revealed.
(24) And so the Law was in charge of us until Christ came, in order that we might then be put right with God through faith.
(25) Now that the time for faith is here, the Law is no longer in charge of us.
(26) It is through faith that all of you are God's children in union with Christ Jesus.
(27) You were baptized into union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself.
(28) So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.
(29) If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.
Galatians 3:19-29 ALT
(19) Why then the Law? It was added on account of transgressions, until the Seed should come to whom it had been promised, having been set in order [or, ordained] by means of angels by [the] hand of a mediator [i.e. Moses]. (20) But the mediator is not for one, but God is one. (21) Therefore, [is] the Law against the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law was given which was able to make alive, [then] righteousness would indeed be by law. (22) But the Scripture confined all under sin, so that the promise shall be given by faith in Jesus Christ to the ones believing. (23) But before faith came, we were being guarded [or, being kept in protective custody] under [the] Law, having been confined to the faith about to be revealed. (24) Therefore, the Law has became our tutor [to lead us] to Christ, so that by faith we should be justified [or, declared righteous]. (25) But since faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. (26) For you are all sons [and daughters] of God by means of faith in Christ Jesus. (27) For as many as were baptized [or, immersed] into Christ put on [or, clothed yourselves with] Christ. (28) There is no Jew nor Greek, there is no slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (29) Now since you [are] Christ's, consequently, you are seed [fig., descendants] of Abraham and heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:19-29 ESV
(19) Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary.
(20) Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.
(21) Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.
(22) But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
(23) Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.
(24) So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
(25) But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,
(26) for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
(27) For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
(28) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
(29) And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:19-29 NWT
19 Why, then, the Law? It was added to make transgressions manifest, until the seed should arrive to whom the promise had been made; and it was transmitted through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now there is no mediator where only one person is concerned, but God is only one. 21 Is the Law, therefore, against the promises of God? May that never happen! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, righteousness would actually have been by means of law. 22 But the Scripture delivered up all things together to the custody of sin, that the promise resulting from faith toward Jesus Christ might be given to those exercising faith. 23 However, before the faith arrived, we were being guarded under law, being delivered up together into custody, looking to the faith that was destined to be revealed. 24 Consequently the Law has become our tutor leading to Christ, that we might be declared righteous due to faith. 25 But now that the faith has arrived, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 You are all, in fact, sons of God through your faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one [person] in union with Christ Jesus. 29 Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham's seed, heirs with reference to a promise.
Galatians 3:19-29 LITV
(19) Why the Law then? It was for the sake of transgressions, until the Seed should come, to whom it had been promised, being ordained through angels in a mediator's hand.
(20) But the Mediator is not of one, but God is one.
(21) Then is the Law against the promises of God? Let it not be! For if a law had been given which had been able to make alive, indeed righteousness would have been out of Law.
(22) But the Scripture locked up all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to the ones believing.
(23) But before the coming of faith, we were guarded under Law, having been locked up to the faith being about to be revealed.
(24) So that the Law has become a trainer of us until Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
(25) But faith coming, we are no longer under a trainer;
(26) for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
(27) For as many as were baptized into Christ, you put on Christ.
(28) There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is no slave nor freeman, there is no male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
(29) And if you are of Christ, then you are a seed of Abraham, even heirs according to promise.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
