••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••

Genesis 3:1-5 GNB Now the snake was the most cunning animal that the LORD  (יהוה) God had made. The snake asked the woman, "Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden?" (2) "We may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden," the woman answered, (3) "except the tree in the middle of it. God told us not to eat the fruit of that tree or even touch it; if we do, we will die." (4) The snake replied, "That's not true; you will not die. (5) God said that because he knows that when you eat it, you will be like God and know what is good and what is bad."

Genesis 3:1-5 LITV And the serpent was cunning above every animal of the field which Jehovah  (יהוה) God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it true that God has said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden? (2) And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, (3) but of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die. (4) And the serpent said to the woman, Dying you shall not die, (5) for God knows that in the day you eat of it, even your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:1-5 BBE Now the snake was wiser than any beast of the field which the Lord God  (יהוה) had made. And he said to the woman, Has God truly said that you may not take of the fruit of any tree in the garden? (2) And the woman said, We may take of the fruit of the trees in the garden: (3) But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, If you take of it or put your hands on it, death will come to you. (4) And the snake said, Death will not certainly come to you: (5) For God sees that on the day when you take of its fruit, your eyes will be open, and you will be as gods, having knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 3:1-5 CEV The snake was sneakier than any of the other wild animals that the LORD  (יהוה) God had made. One day it came to the woman and asked, "Did God tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden?" (2) The woman answered, "God said we could eat fruit from any tree in the garden, (3) except the one in the middle. He told us not to eat fruit from that tree or even to touch it. If we do, we will die." (4) "No, you won't!" the snake replied. (5) "God understands what will happen on the day you eat fruit from that tree. You will see what you have done, and you will know the difference between right and wrong, just as God does."

Genesis 3:1-5 ASV Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah  (יהוה) God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden? (2) And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat: (3) but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. (4) And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: (5) for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
