Isaiah 28:14-22 GNB Now you arrogant leaders who rule here in Jerusalem (God's city of his asserted followers in Isaiah's day. Today, He is speaking to all false religion.) over this people, listen to what the LORD  ( יהוה ) is saying. (15) You boast that you have made a treaty with death and reached an agreement with the world of the dead. You are certain that disaster will spare you when it comes, because you depend on lies and deceit to keep you safe. (16) This, now, is what the Sovereign LORD  ( יהוה ) says: "I am placing in Zion a foundation that is firm and strong. In it I am putting a solid cornerstone on which are written the words, 'Faith that is firm is also patient.' (Those knowing and believing what Christ Jesus actually taught will be safe.) (17) Justice will be the measuring line for the foundation, and honesty will be its plumb line." Hailstorms will sweep away all the lies you depend on, and floods will destroy your security. (18) The treaty you have made with death will be abolished, and your agreement with the world of the dead will be canceled. When disaster sweeps down, you will be overcome. (19) It will strike you again and again, morning after morning. You will have to bear it day and night. Each new message from God will bring new terror! (20) You will be like the person in the proverb, who tries to sleep in a bed too short to stretch out on, with a blanket too narrow to wrap himself in. (21) The LORD  ( יהוה ) will fight as he did at Mount Perazim and in the valley of Gibeon (the site of a complete victory by King David over the combined forces of the Philistines), in order to do what he intends to do---strange as his actions may seem. He will complete his work, his mysterious work. (22) Don't laugh at the warning I am giving you! If you do, it will be even harder for you to escape. I have heard the LORD  ( יהוה ) Almighty's decision to destroy the whole country.

Isaiah 28:14-22 CEV You rulers of Jerusalem do nothing but sneer; now you must listen to what the LORD  ( יהוה ) says. (God's city of Jerusalem was his asserted followers in Isaiah's day. Today, He is speaking to all false religion.) (15) Do you think you have an agreement with death and the world of the dead? Why do you trust in your lies to keep you safe from danger and the mighty flood? (16) And so the LORD  ( יהוה ) says, "I'm laying a firm foundation for the city of Zion. It's a valuable cornerstone proven to be trustworthy; no one who trusts it (those knowing and believing what Christ Jesus actually taught) will ever be disappointed. (17) Justice and fairness will be the measuring lines that help me build." Hailstones and floods will destroy and wash away your shelter of lies. (18) Your agreement with death and the world of the dead will be broken. Then angry, roaring waves will sweep over you. (19) Morning, noon, and night an overwhelming flood will wash you away. The terrible things that happen will teach you this lesson: (20) Your bed is too short, your blanket too skimpy. (21) The LORD  ( יהוה ) will fiercely attack as he did at Mount Perazim and in Gibeon Valley (the site of a complete victory by King David over the combined forces of the Philistines). But this time the LORD  ( יהוה ) will do something surprising, not what you expect. (22) So you had better stop sneering or you will be in worse shape than ever before. I heard the LORD  ( יהוה ) All-Powerful threaten the whole country with destruction.

Isaiah 28:14-22 GW So hear the word of the LORD  ( יהוה ) , you foolish talkers who rule the people in Jerusalem. (God's city of his asserted followers in Isaiah's day. Today, He is speaking to all false religion.) (15) You say, "We made a treaty with death and an agreement with the grave. When the overwhelming disaster passes by, it won't matter to us, because we have taken refuge in our lies, and falsehood is our hiding place." (16) This is what the Almighty LORD  ( יהוה ) says: I am going to lay a rock in Zion, a rock that has been tested, a precious cornerstone, a solid foundation. Whoever believes in him (those knowing and believing what Christ Jesus actually taught) will not worry. (17) I will make justice a measuring line and righteousness a plumb line. Hail will sweep away your refuge of lies, and floodwaters will wash away your hiding place. (18) Your treaty with death will be wiped away. Your agreement with the grave will not stand. When the overwhelming disaster passes by, you will be trampled by it. (19) Each time it passes by it will take you. It will pass by morning after morning, during the day and during the night. Understanding this message brings only terror. (20) The bed is too short to stretch out on. The blanket is too narrow to serve as a cover. (21) The LORD  ( יהוה ) will rise as he did on Mount Perazim. He will wake up as he did in Gibeon Valley (the site of a complete victory by King David over the combined forces of the Philistines). He will do his work, his unexpected work, and perform his deeds, his mysterious deeds. (22) Now stop laughing, or your chains will be tightened, because I have heard that the Almighty LORD  ( יהוה ) of Armies has finally determined to destroy the whole land.

Isaiah 28:14-22 LITV So hear the Word of Jehovah  ( יהוה ), scornful men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem. (God's city of his asserted followers in Isaiah's day. Today, He is speaking to all false religion.) (15) Because you have said, We have cut a covenant with death; and, We have made a vision with Sheol, when the overwhelming rod passes through it will not come to us for we have made the lie our refuge, and we have hidden in falsehood. (16) So, the Lord Jehovah  ( יהוה ) says this: Behold, I place in Zion a Stone for a foundation, a tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone, a sure Foundation; he who believes shall not hasten. (Those knowing and believing what Christ Jesus actually taught will know they are safe.) (17) And I will lay justice for a line, and righteousness for a plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of the lie; and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. (18) And your covenant with death shall be covered; and your vision with Sheol shall not rise up. When the overwhelming whip passes through, then you shall be for a trampling to it. (19) As often as it passes, it shall take you; for morning by morning it shall pass; and by day and by night, it shall only be a terror to understand the message. (20) For the bed is shorter than one can stretch himself on; and the cover is narrower than one can wrap himself in. (21) For Jehovah  ( יהוה ) shall rise up, as at Mount Perazim; He shall be stirred as in the Gibeon Valley (the site of a complete victory by King David over the combined forces of the Philistines); to do His work, His strange work; and to perform His task, His alien task. (22) So, then, do not be mockers, that your bonds not be made strong. For I have heard from the Lord Jehovah  ( יהוה ) of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
