Jeremiah 16:1-12 GNB Again the LORD spoke to me and said, (2) "Do not marry or have children in a place like this. (3) I will tell you what is going to happen to the children who are born here and to their parents. (4) They will die of terrible diseases, and no one will mourn for them or bury them. Their bodies will lie like piles of manure on the ground. They will be killed in war or die of starvation, and their bodies will be food for the birds and the wild animals. (5) "You must not enter a house where there is mourning. Do not grieve for anyone. I will no longer bless my people with peace or show them love and mercy. (6) The rich and the poor will die in this land, but no one will bury them or mourn for them. Not one of you will gash yourself or shave your head to show your grief. (7) No one will eat or drink with anyone to offer comfort when a loved one dies. No one will show sympathy, not even for someone who has lost a father or mother. (8) "Do not enter a house where people are feasting. Do not sit down with them to eat and drink. (9) Listen to what I, the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, have to say. I will silence the sounds of joy and gladness and the happy sounds of wedding feasts. The people here will live to see this happen. (10) "When you tell them all this, they will ask you why I have decided to punish them so harshly. They will ask what crime they are guilty of and what sin they have committed against the LORD their God. (11) Then tell them that the LORD has said, 'Your ancestors turned away from me and worshiped and served other gods. They abandoned me and did not obey my teachings. (12) But you have done even worse than your ancestors. (They have rejected Christ.) All of you are stubborn and evil, and you do not obey me.
Jeremiah 16:1-12 LITV The Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, (2) You shall not take a wife for yourself, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place. (3) For so says Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who fathered them in this land: (4) They shall die of deadly diseases; they shall not be mourned nor shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the face of the earth. And they shall be consumed by the sword and by famine, and their bodies shall be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth. (5) For so says Jehovah, Do not enter into the house of mourning. Do not go to weep or moan for them. For I have removed My peace with loving-kindness and compassions from this people says Jehovah. (6) Both the great and the small shall die in this land. They shall not be buried, nor shall men mourn for them, nor cut himself, nor make himself bald for them. (7) Nor shall anyone break for them in mourning, to comfort him for ones who died. Nor shall they give them the cup of comfort to drink for one's father or one's mother. (8) Also you shall not go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and drink. (9) For so says Jehovah of Hosts the God of Israel: Behold I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes, and in your days, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. (10) And it shall be, when you declare to this people all these Words, they will say to you, Why has Jehovah spoken all this great evil against us? Or what is our iniquity, or what our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God? (11) Then you shall say to them, Because your fathers have forsaken Me, says Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshiped them, and have forsaken Me, and have not kept My Law. (12) And you have done more evil than your fathers. For, behold, you each one walk after the stubbornness of his evil heart, without listening to Me.
Jeremiah 16:1-12 CEV The LORD said to me: (2) Jeremiah, don't get married and have children--Judah is no place to raise a family. (3) I'll tell you what's going to happen to children and their parents here. (4) They will die of horrible diseases and of war and starvation. No one will give them a funeral or bury them, and their bodies will be food for the birds and wild animals. And what's left will lie on the ground like manure. (5) When someone dies, don't visit the family or show any sorrow. I will no longer love or bless or have any pity on the people of Judah. (6) Rich and poor alike will die and be left unburied. No one will mourn and show their sorrow by cutting themselves or shaving their heads. (7) No one will bring food and wine to help comfort those who are mourning the death of their father or mother. (8) Don't even set foot in a house where there is eating and drinking and celebrating. (9) Warn the people of Judah that I, the LORD All-Powerful, will put an end to all their parties and wedding celebrations. (10) They will ask, "Why has the LORD our God threatened us with so many disasters? Have we done something wrong or sinned against him?" (11) Then tell them I have said: People of Judah, your ancestors turned away from me; they rejected my laws and teachings and started worshiping other gods. (12) And you have done even worse! You are stubborn, and instead of obeying me, you do whatever evil comes to your mind.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
