John 10:1-5 ESV "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man (false Christ) is a thief and a robber. (2) But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. (3) To him the gatekeeper (God) opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. (4) When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. (5) A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."

John 10:1-5 ALT "Most positively, I say to you, the one not entering through the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbing up some other way, that one (false Christ) is a thief and a robber. (2) "But the one entering through the door is shepherd of the sheep. (3) "To this one the doorkeeper (God) opens. And the sheep hear his voice, and his own sheep he calls by name, and he leads them out. (4) "And whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. (5) "But a stranger they will by no means follow, but they will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."

John 10:1-5 CEV Jesus said: I tell you for certain that only thieves and robbers (false Christs) climb over the fence instead of going in through the gate to the sheep pen. (2) But the gatekeeper (God) opens the gate for the shepherd, and he goes in through it. The sheep know their shepherd's voice. He calls each of them by name and leads them out. (3) (SEE 10:2) (4) When he has led out all of his sheep, he walks in front of them, and they follow, because they know his voice. (5) The sheep will not follow strangers. They don't recognize a stranger's voice, and they run away.

John 10:1-5 GW "I can guarantee this truth: The person (false Christ) who doesn't enter the sheep pen through the gate but climbs in somewhere else is a thief or a robber. (2) But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd. (3) The gatekeeper (God) opens the gate for him, and the sheep respond to his voice. He calls his sheep by name and leads them out of the pen. (4) After he has brought out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they recognize his voice. (5) They won't follow a stranger. Instead, they will run away from a stranger because they don't recognize his voice."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
