John 1:35-51 ESV ...The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, (36) and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" (37) The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. (38) Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" (39) He said to them, "Come and you will see." So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. (40) One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. (41) He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ). (42) He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter). (43) The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." (44) Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. (45) Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." (46) Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." (47) Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!" (48) Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." (49) Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" (50) Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these." (51) And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
John 1:35-51 GNB ...The next day John was standing there again with two of his disciples, (36) when he saw Jesus walking by. "There is the Lamb of God!" he said. (37) The two disciples heard him say this and went with Jesus. (38) Jesus turned, saw them following him, and asked, "What are you looking for?" They answered, "Where do you live, Rabbi?" (This word means "Teacher.") (39) "Come and see," he answered. (It was then about four o'clock in the afternoon.) So they went with him and saw where he lived, and spent the rest of that day with him. (40) One of them was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. (41) At once he found his brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah." (This word means "Christ.") (42) Then he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "Your name is Simon son of John, but you will be called Cephas." (This is the same as Peter and means "a rock.") (43) The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Come with me!" (44) (Philip was from Bethsaida, the town where Andrew and Peter lived.) (45) Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one whom Moses wrote about in the book of the Law and whom the prophets also wrote about. He is Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth." (46) "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," answered Philip. (47) When Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, he said about him, "Here is a real Israelite; there is nothing false in him!" (48) Nathanael asked him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered, "I saw you when you were under the fig tree before Philip called you." (49) "Teacher," answered Nathanael, "you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" (50) Jesus said, "Do you believe just because I told you I saw you when you were under the fig tree? You will see much greater things than this!" (51) And he said to them, "I am telling you the truth: you will see heaven open and God's angels going up and coming down on the Son of Man."
John 1:35-51 GW ...The next day John was standing with two of his disciples. (36) John saw Jesus walk by. John said, "Look! This is the Lamb of God." (37) When the two disciples heard John say this, they followed Jesus. (38) Jesus turned around and saw them following him. He asked them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which means "teacher"), "where are you staying?" (39) Jesus told them, "Come, and you will see." So they went to see where he was staying and spent the rest of that day with him. It was about ten o'clock in the morning. (40) Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two disciples who heard John and followed Jesus. (41) Andrew at once found his brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means "Christ"). (42) Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at Simon and said, "You are Simon, son of John. Your name will be Cephas" (which means "Peter"). (43) The next day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee. He found Philip and told him, "Follow me!" (44) (Philip was from Bethsaida, the hometown of Andrew and Peter.) (45) Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the man whom Moses wrote about in his teachings and whom the prophets wrote about. He is Jesus, son of Joseph, from the city of Nazareth." (46) Nathanael said to Philip, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip told him, "Come and see!" (47) Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and remarked, "Here is a true Israelite who is sincere." (48) Nathanael asked Jesus, "How do you know anything about me?" Jesus answered him, "I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you." (49) Nathanael said to Jesus, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the king of Israel!" (50) Jesus replied, "You believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that." (51) Jesus said to Nathanael, "I can guarantee this truth: You will see the sky open and God's angels going up and coming down to the Son of Man."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
