This is one of the scriptures at the root of the superstition which led to the omission of the Divine Name from some translations of the Bible. The latter day Jews [those who lived just before Christ appeared] developed a superstition against pronouncing God's name at all, because of fear about what happened to some who had misused it. That superstition carried over into some of the Bible translation efforts, resulting in God's name being omitted from most of them. Everyone alive today should recognize God's name is as it was recorded over 6000 times in the original Hebrew language.

Leviticus 24:16 MKJV
(16) And he that blasphemes the Name of Jehovah ( ) shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall surely stone him. And the stranger as well, even as he that is born in the land; when he blasphemes the Name ( ), he shall be put to death.

But those who curse the LORD'S ( 's) name must be put to death. The whole congregation must stone them to death. It makes no difference whether they are Israelites or foreigners. Whoever curses the LORD'S ( 's) name must die.

and be put to death. Any Israelite or any foreigner living in Israel who curses the LORD ( ) shall be stoned to death by the whole community.

16 So the abuser of Jehovah's ( 's) name should be put to death without fail. The entire assembly should without fail pelt him with stones. The alien resident the same as the native should be put to death for his abusing the Name ( ).
