Luke 21:7-28 GNB "Teacher," they asked, "when will this be? And what will happen in order to show that the time has come for it to take place?" (8) Jesus said, "Watch out; don't be fooled. Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, 'I am he!' and, 'The time has come!' But don't follow them. (9) Don't be afraid when you hear of wars and revolutions; such things must happen first, but they do not mean that the end is near." (10) He went on to say, "Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. (11) There will be terrible earthquakes, famines, and plagues everywhere; there will be strange and terrifying things coming from the sky. (12) Before all these things take place, however, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be handed over to be tried in synagogues and be put in prison; you will be brought before kings and rulers for my sake. (13) This will be your chance to tell the Good News. (14) Make up your minds ahead of time not to worry about how you will defend yourselves, (15) because I will give you such words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to refute or contradict what you say. (16) You will be handed over by your parents, your brothers, your relatives, and your friends; and some of you will be put to death. (17) Everyone will hate you because of me. (18) But not a single hair from your heads will be lost. (19) Stand firm, and you will save yourselves. (20) "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed. (21) Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills; those who are in the city must leave, and those who are out in the country must not go into the city. (22) For those will be 'The Days of Punishment,' to make come true all that the Scriptures say. (23) How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! Terrible distress will come upon this land, and God's punishment will fall on this people. (24) Some will be killed by the sword, and others will be taken as prisoners to all countries; and the heathen will trample over Jerusalem until their time is up. (25) "There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides. (26) People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. (27) Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. (28) When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near."
Luke 21:7-28 CEV Some people asked, "Teacher, when will all this happen? How can we know when these things are about to take place?" (8) Jesus replied: Don't be fooled by those who will come and claim to be me. They will say, "I am Christ!" and "Now is the time!" But don't follow them. (9) When you hear about wars and riots, don't be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that isn't the end. (10) Nations will go to war against one another, and kingdoms will attack each other. (11) There will be great earthquakes, and in many places people will starve to death and suffer terrible diseases. All sorts of frightening things will be seen in the sky. (12) Before all this happens, you will be arrested and punished. You will be tried in your meeting places and put in jail. Because of me you will be placed on trial before kings and governors. (13) But this will be your chance to tell about your faith. (14) Don't worry about what you will say to defend yourselves. (15) I will give you the wisdom to know what to say. None of your enemies will be able to oppose you or to say that you are wrong. (16) You will be betrayed by your own parents, brothers, family, and friends. Some of you will even be killed. (17) Because of me, you will be hated by everyone. (18) But don't worry! (19) You will be saved by being faithful to me. (20) When you see Jerusalem surrounded by soldiers, you will know that it will soon be destroyed. (21) If you are living in Judea at that time, run to the mountains. If you are in the city, leave it. And if you are out in the country, don't go back into the city. (22) This time of punishment is what is written about in the Scriptures. (23) It will be an awful time for women who are expecting babies or nursing young children! Everywhere in the land people will suffer horribly and be punished. (24) Some of them will be killed by swords. Others will be carried off to foreign countries. Jerusalem will be overrun by foreign nations until their time comes to an end. (25) Strange things will happen to the sun, moon, and stars. The nations on earth will be afraid of the roaring sea and tides, and they won't know what to do. (26) People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. Every power in the sky will be shaken. (27) Then the Son of Man will be seen, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. (28) When all of this starts happening, stand up straight and be brave. You will soon be set free.
Luke 21:7-28 GW The disciples asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? What will be the sign when all this will occur?" (8) Jesus said, "Be careful that you are not deceived. Many will come using my name. They will say, 'I am he!' and 'The time is near.' Don't follow them! (9) "When you hear of wars and revolutions, don't be terrified! These things must happen first, but the end will not come immediately." (10) Then Jesus continued, "Nation will fight against nation and kingdom against kingdom. (11) There will be terrible earthquakes, famines, and dreadful diseases in various places. Terrifying sights and miraculous signs will come from the sky. (12) "Before all these things happen, people will arrest and persecute you. They will hand you over to their synagogues and put you into their prisons. They will drag you in front of kings and governors because of my name. (13) It will be your opportunity to testify to them. (14) So make up your minds not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. (15) I will give you words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to oppose or prove wrong. (16) "Even parents, brothers, relatives, and friends will betray you and kill some of you. (17) Everyone will hate you because you are committed to me. (18) But not a hair on your head will be lost. (19) By your endurance you will save your life. (20) "When you see armies camped around Jerusalem, realize that the time is near for it to be destroyed. (21) Then those of you in Judea should flee to the mountains. Those of you in Jerusalem should leave it. Those of you in the fields shouldn't go back into them. (22) This will be a time of vengeance. Everything that is written about it will come true. (23) "How horrible it will be for women who are pregnant or who are nursing babies in those days. Indeed, the land will suffer very hard times, and its people will be punished. (24) Swords will cut them down, and they will be carried off into all nations as prisoners. Nations will trample Jerusalem until the times allowed for the nations to do this are over. (25) "Miraculous signs will occur in the sun, moon, and stars. The nations of the earth will be deeply troubled and confused because of the roaring and tossing of the sea. (26) People will faint as they fearfully wait for what will happen to the world. Indeed, the powers of the universe will be shaken. (27) "Then people will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (28) "When these things begin to happen, stand with confidence! The time when you will be set free is near."
Luke 21:7-28 NWT Then they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, when will these things actually be, and what will be the sign when these things are destined to occur?” 8 He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them. 9 Furthermore, when YOU hear of wars and disorders, do not be terrified. For these things must occur first, but the end does not [occur] immediately.” 10 Then he went on to say to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 and there will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another pestilences and food shortages; and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs. 12 “But before all these things people will lay their hands upon YOU and persecute YOU, delivering YOU up to the synagogues and prisons, YOU being haled before kings and governors for the sake of my name. 13 It will turn out to YOU for a witness. 14 Therefore settle it in YOUR hearts not to rehearse beforehand how to make YOUR defense, 15 for I will give YOU a mouth and wisdom, which all YOUR opposers together will not be able to resist or dispute. 16 Moreover, YOU will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of YOU to death; 17 and YOU will be objects of hatred by all people because of my name. 18 And yet not a hair of YOUR heads will by any means perish. 19 By endurance on YOUR part YOU will acquire YOUR souls. 20 “Furthermore, when YOU see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that the desolating of her has drawn near. 21 Then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains, and let those in the midst of her withdraw, and let those in the country places not enter into her; 22 because these are days for meting out justice, that all the things written may be fulfilled. 23 Woe to the pregnant women and the ones suckling a baby in those days! For there will be great necessity upon the land and wrath on this people; 24 and they will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled. 25 “Also, there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and [its] agitation, 26 while men become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift YOUR heads up, because YOUR deliverance is getting near.”

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
