Luke 24:1-9 ESV But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. (2) And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, (3) but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (4) While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. (5) And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? (6) He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, (7) that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise." [cp. Luke 9:22 ESV saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."
Luke 9:44-45 ESV "Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men." (45) But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

(4) They stood there puzzled about this, when suddenly two men in bright shining clothes stood by them. (5) Full of fear, the women bowed down to the ground, as the men said to them, "Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive? (6) He is not here; he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee: (7) 'The Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and three days later rise to life.' " [cp. Luke 9:22 GNB He also told them, "The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will be raised to life."
Luke 9:44-45 GNB "Don't forget what I am about to tell you! The Son of Man is going to be handed over to the power of human beings." (45) But the disciples did not know what this meant. It had been hidden from them so that they could not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about the matter.

Remember how He spoke to you, being yet in Galilee, (7) saying, 'It is necessary [for] the Son of Humanity to be betrayed into [the] hands of sinful men and to be crucified and on the third day to rise again?'" Luke 9:22 ALT saying, "It is necessary [for] the Son of Humanity to suffer many [things] and to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be killed and to rise [on] the third day."
Luke 9:44-45 ALT "Youp put yourp ears to these words, for the Son of Humanity is about to be betrayed into the hands of people." (45) But they were failing to understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they did not perceive [the meaning of] it, and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.
