Luke 9:27-50 GNB I assure you that there are some here who will not die until they have seen the Kingdom of God." (28) About a week after he had said these things, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a hill to pray. (29) While he was praying, his face changed its appearance, and his clothes became dazzling white. (30) Suddenly two men were there talking with him. They were Moses and Elijah, (31) who appeared in heavenly glory and talked with Jesus about the way in which he would soon fulfill God's purpose by dying in Jerusalem. (32) Peter and his companions were sound asleep, but they woke up and saw Jesus' glory and the two men who were standing with him. (33) As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, "Master, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." (He did not really know what he was saying.) (34) While he was still speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow; and the disciples were afraid as the cloud came over them. (35) A voice said from the cloud, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen---listen to him!" (36) When the voice stopped, there was Jesus all alone. The disciples kept quiet about all this and told no one at that time anything they had seen. (37) The next day Jesus and the three disciples went down from the hill, and a large crowd met Jesus. (38) A man shouted from the crowd, "Teacher! I beg you, look at my son---my only son! (39) A spirit attacks him with a sudden shout and throws him into a fit, so that he foams at the mouth; it keeps on hurting him and will hardly let him go! (40) I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they couldn't." (41) Jesus answered, "How unbelieving and wrong you people are! How long must I stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you?" Then he said to the man, "Bring your son here." (42) As the boy was coming, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into a fit. Jesus gave a command to the evil spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. (43) All the people were amazed at the mighty power of God. The people were still marveling at everything Jesus was doing, when he said to his disciples, (44) "Don't forget what I am about to tell you! The Son of Man is going to be handed over to the power of human beings." (45) But the disciples did not know what this meant. It had been hidden from them so that they could not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about the matter. (46) An argument broke out among the disciples as to which one of them was the greatest. (47) Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he took a child, stood him by his side, (48) and said to them, "Whoever welcomes this child in my name, welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, also welcomes the one who sent me. For the one who is least among you all is the greatest." (49) John spoke up, "Master, we saw a man driving out demons in your name, and we told him to stop, because he doesn't belong to our group." (50) "Do not try to stop him," Jesus said to him and to the other disciples, "because whoever is not against you is for you."
Luke 9:27-50 GW "I can guarantee this truth: Some people who are standing here will not die until they see the kingdom of God." (28) About eight days after he had said this, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a mountain to pray. (29) While Jesus was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. (30) Suddenly, both Moses and Elijah were talking with him. (31) They appeared in heavenly glory and were discussing Jesus' approaching death and what he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem. (32) Peter and the men with him were sleeping soundly. When they woke up, they saw Jesus' glory and the two men standing with him. (33) As Moses and Elijah were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, "Teacher, it's good that we're here. Let's put up three tents-one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." Peter didn't know what he was saying. (34) While he was saying this, a cloud overshadowed them. They were frightened as they went into the cloud. (35) A voice came out of the cloud and said, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to him!" (36) After the voice had spoken, they saw that Jesus was alone. The disciples said nothing, and for some time they told no one about what they had seen. (37) The next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd met Jesus. (38) A man in the crowd shouted, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son. He's my only child. (39) Whenever a spirit takes control of him, he shrieks, goes into convulsions, and foams at the mouth. After a struggle, the spirit goes away, leaving the child worn out. (40) I begged your disciples to force the spirit out of him, but they couldn't do it." (41) Jesus answered, "You unbelieving and corrupt generation! How long must I be with you and put up with you? Bring your son here!" (42) While he was coming to Jesus, the demon knocked the boy to the ground and threw him into convulsions. Jesus ordered the evil spirit to leave. He cured the boy and gave him back to his father. (43) Everyone was amazed to see God's wonderful power. Everyone was amazed at all the things that Jesus was doing. So he said to his disciples, (44) "Listen carefully to what I say. The Son of Man will be betrayed and handed over to people." (45) They didn't know what he meant. The meaning was hidden from them so that they didn't understand it. Besides, they were afraid to ask him about what he had said. (46) A discussion started among them about who would be the greatest. (47) Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he took a little child and had him stand beside him. (48) Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me. Whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. The one who is least among all of you is the one who is greatest." (49) John replied, "Master, we saw someone forcing demons out of a person by using the power and authority of your name. We tried to stop him because he was not one of us." (50) Jesus said to him, "Don't stop him! Whoever isn't against you is for you."
Luke 9:27-50 NWT 27 But I tell YOU truthfully, There are some of those standing here that will not taste death at all until first they see the kingdom of God.” 28 In actual fact, about eight days after these words, he took Peter and John and James along and climbed up into the mountain to pray. 29 And as he was praying the appearance of his face became different and his apparel became glitteringly white. 30 Also, look! two men were conversing with him, who were Moses and E·li´jah. 31 These appeared with glory and began talking about his departure that he was destined to fulfill at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those with him were weighed down with sleep; but when they got fully awake they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 And as these were being separated from him, Peter said to Jesus: “Instructor, it is fine for us to be here, so let us erect three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for E·li´jah,” he not realizing what he was saying. 34 But as he was saying these things a cloud formed and began to overshadow them. As they entered into the cloud, they became fearful. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the one that has been chosen. Listen to him.” 36 And as the voice occurred Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet and did not report to anyone in those days any of the things they saw. 37 On the succeeding day, when they got down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. 38 And, look! a man cried out from the crowd, saying: “Teacher, I beg you to take a look at my son, because he is my only-begotten, 39 and, look! a spirit takes him, and suddenly he cries out, and it throws him into convulsions with foam, and it scarcely withdraws from him after bruising him. 40 And I begged your disciples to expel it, but they could not.” 41 In response Jesus said: “O faithless and twisted generation, how long must I continue with YOU and put up with YOU? Lead your son over here.” 42 But even as he was approaching, the demon dashed him to the ground and violently convulsed him. However, Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy and delivered him to his father. 43 Well, they all began to be astounded at the majestic power of God. Now as they were all marveling at all the things he was doing, he said to his disciples: 44 “Give lodgment to these words in YOUR ears, for the Son of man is destined to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But they continued without understanding of this saying. In fact, it was concealed from them that they might not see through it, and they were afraid to question him about this saying. 46 Then a reasoning entered among them as to who would be the greatest of them. 47 Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a young child, set it beside him 48 and said to them: “Whoever receives this young child on the basis of my name receives me [too], and whoever receives me receives him [also] that sent me forth. For he that conducts himself as a lesser one among all of YOU is the one that is great.” 49 In response John said: “Instructor, we saw a certain man expelling demons by the use of your name and we tried to prevent him, because he is not following with us.” 50 But Jesus said to him: “Do not YOU men try to prevent [him], for he that is not against YOU is for YOU.”

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
