Mark 5:22-43 GW A synagogue leader named Jairus also arrived. When he saw Jesus, he quickly bowed down in front of him. (23) He begged Jesus, "My little daughter is dying. Come, lay your hands on her so that she may get well and live." (24) Jesus went with the man. A huge crowd followed Jesus and pressed him on every side. (25) In the crowd was a woman who had been suffering from chronic bleeding for twelve years. (26) Although she had been under the care of many doctors and had spent all her money, she had not been helped at all. Actually, she had become worse. (27) Since she had heard about Jesus, she came from behind in the crowd and touched his clothes. (28) She said, "If I can just touch his clothes, I'll get well." (29) Her bleeding stopped immediately. She felt cured from her illness. (30) At that moment Jesus felt power had gone out of him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" (31) His disciples said to him, "How can you ask, 'Who touched me,' when you see the crowd pressing you on all sides?" (32) But he kept looking around to see the woman who had done this. (33) The woman trembled with fear. She knew what had happened to her. So she quickly bowed in front of him and told him the whole truth. (34) Jesus told her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace! Be cured from your illness." (35) While Jesus was still speaking to her, some people came from the synagogue leader's home. They told the synagogue leader, "Your daughter has died. Why bother the teacher anymore?" (36) When Jesus overheard what they said, he told the synagogue leader, "Don't be afraid! Just believe." (37) Jesus allowed no one to go with him except Peter and the two brothers James and John. (38) When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a noisy crowd there. People were crying and sobbing loudly. (39) When he came into the house, he asked them, "Why are you making so much noise and crying? The child isn't dead. She's just sleeping." (40) They laughed at him. So he made all of them go outside. Then he took the child's father, mother, and his three disciples and went to the child. (41) Jesus took the child's hand and said to her, "Talitha, koum!" which means, "Little girl, I'm telling you to get up!" (42) The girl got up at once and started to walk. (She was twelve years old.) They were astonished. (43) Jesus ordered them not to let anyone know about this. He also told them to give the little girl something to eat.

Mark 5:22-43 GNB Jairus, an official of the local synagogue, arrived, and when he saw Jesus, he threw himself down at his feet (23) and begged him earnestly, "My little daughter is very sick. Please come and place your hands on her, so that she will get well and live!" (24) Then Jesus started off with him. So many people were going along with Jesus that they were crowding him from every side. (25) There was a woman who had suffered terribly from severe bleeding for twelve years, (26) even though she had been treated by many doctors. She had spent all her money, but instead of getting better she got worse all the time. (27) She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, (28) saying to herself, "If I just touch his clothes, I will get well." (29) She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble. (30) At once Jesus knew that power had gone out of him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" (31) His disciples answered, "You see how the people are crowding you; why do you ask who touched you?" (32) But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. (33) The woman realized what had happened to her, so she came, trembling with fear, knelt at his feet, and told him the whole truth. (34) Jesus said to her, "My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble." (35) While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, "Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?" (36) Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, "Don't be afraid, only believe." (37) Then he did not let anyone else go on with him except Peter and James and his brother John. (38) They arrived at Jairus' house, where Jesus saw the confusion and heard all the loud crying and wailing. (39) He went in and said to them, "Why all this confusion? Why are you crying? The child is not dead---she is only sleeping!" (40) They started making fun of him, so he put them all out, took the child's father and mother and his three disciples, and went into the room where the child was lying. (41) He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha, koum," which means, "Little girl, I tell you to get up!" (42) She got up at once and started walking around. (She was twelve years old.) When this happened, they were completely amazed. (43) But Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone, and he said, "Give her something to eat."

Mark 5:22-43 NWT 22 Now one of the presiding officers of the synagogue, Ja´i·rus by name, came and, on catching sight of him, he fell at his feet 23 and entreated him many times, saying: “My little daughter is in an extreme condition. Would you please come and put your hands upon her that she may get well and live.” 24 At that he went off with him. And a great crowd was following him and pressing against him. 25 Now there was a woman subject to a flow of blood twelve years, 26 and she had been put to many pains by many physicians and had spent all her resources and had not been benefited but, rather, had got worse. 27 When she heard the things about Jesus, she came behind in the crowd and touched his outer garment; 28 for she kept saying: “If I touch just his outer garments I shall get well.” 29 And immediately her fountain of blood dried up, and she sensed in her body that she had been healed of the grievous sickness. 30 Immediately, also, Jesus recognized in himself that power had gone out of him, and he turned about in the crowd and began to say: “Who touched my outer garments?” 31 But his disciples began to say to him: “You see the crowd pressing in upon you, and do you say, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 However, he was looking around to see her that had done this. 33 But the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her: “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be in good health from your grievous sickness.” 35 While he was yet speaking, some men from the home of the presiding officer of the synagogue came and said: “Your daughter died! Why bother the teacher any longer?” 36 But Jesus, overhearing the word being spoken, said to the presiding officer of the synagogue: “Have no fear, only exercise faith.” 37 Now he did not let anyone follow along with him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 So they came to the house of the presiding officer of the synagogue, and he beheld the noisy confusion and those weeping and letting out many wails, 39 and, after stepping in, he said to them: “Why are YOU causing noisy confusion and weeping? The young child has not died, but is sleeping.” 40 At this they began to laugh scornfully at him. But, having put them all out, he took along the young child’s father and mother and those with him, and he went in where the young child was. 41 And, taking the hand of the young child, he said to her: “Tal´i·tha cu´mi,” which, translated, means: “Maiden, I say to you, Get up!” 42 And immediately the maiden rose and began walking, for she was twelve years old. And at once they were beside themselves with great ecstasy. 43 But he ordered them again and again to let no one learn of this, and he said that something should be given her to eat.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
