Matthew 22:1-22 ESV . . .And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, (2) "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, (3) and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. (4) Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.' (5) But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, (6) while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. (7) The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city [the Jews and ancient Jerusalem]. (8) Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. (9) Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.' (10) And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good [both Jews and Gentiles]. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. (11) "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment [A person not clothed by their faith in the words of Christ... (Eph 6:10-18)]. (12) And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. (13) Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' (14) For many are called, but few are chosen." (15) Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. (16) And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians [followers of Herod], saying, "Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. (17) Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" (18) But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? (19) Show me the coin for the tax." And they brought him a denarius. (20) And Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" (21) They said, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." (22) When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.

Matthew 22:1-22 GNB . . .Jesus again used parables in talking to the people. (2) "The Kingdom of heaven is like this. Once there was a king who prepared a wedding feast for his son. (3) He sent his servants to tell the invited guests to come to the feast, but they did not want to come. (4) So he sent other servants with this message for the guests: 'My feast is ready now; my steers and prize calves have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!' (5) But the invited guests paid no attention and went about their business: one went to his farm, another to his store, (6) while others grabbed the servants, beat them, and killed them. (7) The king was very angry; so he sent his soldiers, who killed those murderers and burned down their city [the Jews and ancient Jerusalem]. (8) Then he called his servants and said to them, 'My wedding feast is ready, but the people I invited did not deserve it. (9) Now go to the main streets and invite to the feast as many people as you find.' (10) So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, good and bad alike [both Jews and Gentiles]; and the wedding hall was filled with people. (11) "The king went in to look at the guests and saw a man who was not wearing wedding clothes [A person not clothed by their faith in the words of Christ... (Eph 6:10-18)]. (12) 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' the king asked him. But the man said nothing. (13) Then the king told the servants, 'Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him outside in the dark. There he will cry and gnash his teeth.' " (14) And Jesus concluded, "Many are invited, but few are chosen." (15) The Pharisees went off and made a plan to trap Jesus with questions. (16) Then they sent to him some of their disciples and some members of Herod's party. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you tell the truth. You teach the truth about God's will for people, without worrying about what others think, because you pay no attention to anyone's status. (17) Tell us, then, what do you think? Is it against our Law to pay taxes to the Roman Emperor, or not?" (18) Jesus, however, was aware of their evil plan, and so he said, "You hypocrites! Why are you trying to trap me? (19) Show me the coin for paying the tax!" They brought him the coin, (20) and he asked them, "Whose face and name are these?" (21) "The Emperor's," they answered. So Jesus said to them, "Well, then, pay to the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and pay to God what belongs to God." (22) When they heard this, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

Matthew 22:1-22 GW . . .Again Jesus used stories as illustrations when he spoke to them. He said, (2) "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who planned a wedding for his son. (3) He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come. (4) He sent other servants to tell the people who had been invited, 'I've prepared dinner. My bulls and fattened calves have been butchered. Everything is ready. Come to the wedding!' (5) "But they paid no attention and went away. Some went to work in their own fields, and others went to their businesses. (6) The rest grabbed the king's servants, mistreated them, and then killed them. (7) "The king became angry. He sent his soldiers, killed those murderers, and burned their city [the Jews and ancient Jerusalem]. (8) "Then the king said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited don't deserve the honor. (9) Go where the roads leave the city. Invite everyone you find to the wedding.' (10) The servants went into the streets and brought in all the good people and all the evil people they found [both Jews and Gentiles]. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. (11) "When the king came to see the guests, he saw a person who was not dressed in the wedding clothes provided for the guests [A person not clothed by their faith in the words of Christ... (Eph 6:10-18)]. (12) He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without proper wedding clothes?' "The man had nothing to say. (13) Then the king told his servants, 'Tie his hands and feet, and throw him outside into the darkness. People will cry and be in extreme pain there.' (14) "Therefore, many are invited, but few of those are chosen to stay." (15) Then the Pharisees went away and planned to trap Jesus into saying the wrong thing. (16) They sent their disciples to him along with Herod's followers. They said to him, "Teacher, we know that you tell the truth and that you teach the truth about the way of God. You don't favor individuals because of who they are. (17) So tell us what you think. Is it right to pay taxes to the emperor or not?" (18) Jesus recognized their evil plan, so he asked, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites? (19) Show me a coin used to pay taxes." They brought him a coin. (20) He said to them, "Whose face and name is this?" (21) They replied, "The emperor's." Then he said to them, "Very well, give the emperor what belongs to the emperor, and give God what belongs to God." (22) They were surprised to hear this. Then they left him alone and went away.

Matthew 22:1-22 NWT . . .In further reply Jesus again spoke to them with illustrations, saying: 2 “The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man, a king, that made a marriage feast for his son. 3 And he sent forth his slaves to call those invited to the marriage feast, but they were unwilling to come. 4 Again he sent forth other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Look! I have prepared my dinner, my bulls and fattened animals are slaughtered, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast.”’ 5 But unconcerned they went off, one to his own field, another to his commercial business; 6 but the rest, laying hold of his slaves, treated them insolently and killed them. 7 “But the king grew wrathful, and sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned their city [the Jews and ancient Jerusalem]. 8 Then he said to his slaves, ‘The marriage feast indeed is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9 Therefore go to the roads leading out of the city, and anyone YOU find invite to the marriage feast.’ 10 Accordingly those slaves went out to the roads and gathered together all they found, both wicked and good [both Jews and Gentiles]; and the room for the wedding ceremonies was filled with those reclining at the table. 11 “When the king came in to inspect the guests he caught sight there of a man not clothed with a marriage garment [A person not clothed by their faith in the words of Christ... (Eph 6:10-18)]. 12 So he said to him, ‘Fellow, how did you get in here not having on a marriage garment?’ He was rendered speechless. 13 Then the king said to his servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and throw him out into the darkness outside. There is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be.’ 14 “For there are many invited, but few chosen.” 15 Then the Pharisees went their way and took counsel together in order to trap him in his speech. 16 So they dispatched to him their disciples, together with party followers of Herod, saying: “Teacher, we know you are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and you do not care for anybody, for you do not look upon men’s outward appearance. 17 Tell us, therefore, What do you think? Is it lawful to pay head tax to Caesar or not?” 18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: “Why do YOU put me to the test, hypocrites? 19 Show me the head tax coin.” They brought him a de·nar´i·us. 20 And he said to them: “Whose image and inscription is this?” 21 They said: “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them: “Pay back, therefore, Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.” 22 Well, when they heard [that], they marveled, and leaving him they went off.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
