Psalms 58:1-11 GNB Do you rulers ever give a just decision? Do you judge everyone fairly? (2) No! You think only of the evil you can do, and commit crimes of violence in the land. (3) Evildoers go wrong all their lives; they tell lies from the day they are born. (4) They are full of poison like snakes; they stop up their ears like a deaf cobra, (5) which does not hear the voice of the snake charmer, or the chant of the clever magician. (6) Break the teeth of these fierce lions, O God  ( יהוה ). (7) May they disappear like water draining away; may they be crushed like weeds on a path. (8) May they be like snails that dissolve into slime; may they be like a baby born dead that never sees the light. (9) Before they know it, they are cut down like weeds; in his fierce anger God will blow them away while they are still living. (10) The righteous will be glad when they see sinners punished; they will wade through the blood of the wicked. (11) People will say, "The righteous are indeed rewarded; there is indeed a God who judges the world."

Psalm 58:superscription-11 To the director. “Do not bring to ruin.” Of David. Mik´tam. 58 [In YOUR] silence can YOU really speak about righteousness itself? Can YOU judge in uprightness itself, O YOU sons of men?  2 How much, rather, do YOU with the heart practice outright unrighteousness in the earth, [And] prepare the road for the very violence of YOUR hands!  3 The wicked ones have been perverts from the womb; They have wandered about from the belly onward; They are speaking lies.  4 The venom of theirs is like the venom of the serpent, Deaf like the cobra that stops up its ear,  5 That will not listen to the voice of charmers, Though someone wise is binding with spells.  6 O God, knock out their teeth in their mouth. Break down the very jawbones of maned young lions, O Jehovah.  7 May they dissolve as into waters that go their way; May he bend [the bow for] his arrows as they collapse.  8 Like a snail melting away he walks; Like a miscarriage of a woman they will certainly not behold the sun.  9 Before YOUR pots feel the [kindled] bramble, The live green as well as the burning, he will carry them off as a stormy wind. 10 The righteous one will rejoice because he has beheld the vengeance. His steps he will bathe in the blood of the wicked one. 11 And mankind will say: “Surely there is fruitage for the righteous one. Surely there exists a God that is judging in the earth.”

(2) No, you invent new crimes on earth, and your hands spread violence. (3) Even inside the womb wicked people are strangers to God. From their birth liars go astray. (6) O God, knock the teeth out of their mouths. Break the young lions' teeth, O LORD  ( יהוה ). (7) Let them disappear like water that drains away. When they aim their bows, let their arrows miss the target. (8) Let them become like a snail that leaves behind a slimy trail or like a stillborn child who never sees the sun. (9) Let God sweep them away faster than a cooking pot is heated by burning twigs. (10) Righteous people will rejoice when they see God take revenge. They will wash their feet in the blood of wicked people. (11) Then people will say, "Righteous people certainly have a reward. There is a God who judges on earth."

(2) No, in your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on earth. (3) The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies. (4) They have venom like the venom of a serpent, like the deaf adder that stops its ear, (5) so that it does not hear the voice of charmers or of the cunning enchanter. (6) O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD!  ( יהוה ) (7) Let them vanish like water that runs away; when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted. (8) Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime, like the stillborn child who never sees the sun. (9) Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away! (10) The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked. (11) Mankind will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth."

(7) Let them melt away like waters; they flow off to them; he treads his arrows; let them be as though they were cut off; (8) Let them be as a snail that goes into melting, a miscarriage of a woman; they do not see the sun. (9) Before your pots can discern the thorns, whether green or glowing, He shall sweep it away. (10) The righteous shall rejoice when he sees vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. (11) And man will say, Truly, a fruit is to the righteous; truly, there is a God judging in the earth.
