1 Corinthians 3:1-23 GNB ...As a matter of fact, my friends, I could not talk to you as I talk to people who have the Spirit; I had to talk to you as though you belonged to this world, as children in the Christian faith. (2) I had to feed you milk, not solid food, because you were not ready for it. And even now you are not ready for it, (3) because you still live as the people of this world live. When there is jealousy among you and you quarrel with one another, doesn't this prove that you belong to this world, living by its standards? (4) When one of you says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos"---aren't you acting like worldly people? (5) After all, who is Apollos? And who is Paul? We are simply God's servants, by whom you were led to believe. Each one of us does the work which the Lord gave him to do: (6) I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plant, but it was God who made the plant grow. (7) The one who plants and the one who waters really do not matter. It is God who matters, because he makes the plant grow. (8) There is no difference between the one who plants and the one who waters; God will reward each one according to the work each has done. (9) For we are partners working together for God, and you are God's field. You are also God's building. (10) Using the gift that God gave me, I did the work of an expert builder and laid the foundation, and someone else is building on it. But each of you must be careful how you build. (11) For God has already placed Jesus Christ as the one and only foundation, and no other foundation can be laid. (12) Some will use gold or silver or precious stones in building on the foundation; others will use wood or grass or straw. (13) And the quality of each person's work will be seen when the Day of Christ exposes it. For on that Day fire will reveal everyone's work; the fire will test it and show its real quality. (14) If what was built on the foundation survives the fire, the builder will receive a reward. (15) But if your work is burnt up, then you will lose it; but you yourself will be saved, as if you had escaped through the fire. (16) Surely you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you! (17) God will destroy anyone who destroys God's temple. For God's temple is holy, and you yourselves are his temple. (18) You should not fool yourself. If any of you think that you are wise by this world's standards, you should become a fool, in order to be really wise. (19) For what this world considers to be wisdom is nonsense in God's sight. As the scripture says, "God traps the wise in their cleverness"; (20) and another scripture says, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are worthless." (21) No one, then, should boast about what human beings can do. Actually everything belongs to you: (22) Paul, Apollos, and Peter; this world, life and death, the present and the future---all these are yours, (23) and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

1 Corinthians 3:1-23 ESV ...But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. (2) I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, (3) for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? (4) For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not being merely human? (5) What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. (6) I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. (7) So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (8) He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. (9) For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building. (10) According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. (11) For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (12) Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw-- (13) each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. (14) If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. (15) If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. (16) Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? (17) If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple. (18) Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. (19) For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their craftiness," (20) and again, "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile." (21) So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, (22) whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours, (23) and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

1 Corinthians 3:1-23 GW ...Brothers and sisters, I couldn't talk to you as spiritual people but as people still influenced by your corrupt nature. You were infants in your faith in Christ. (2) I gave you milk to drink. I didn't give you solid food because you weren't ready for it. Even now you aren't ready for it (3) because you're still influenced by your corrupt nature. When you are jealous and quarrel among yourselves, aren't you influenced by your corrupt nature and living by human standards? (4) When some of you say, "I follow Paul" and others say, "I follow Apollos," aren't you acting like sinful humans? (5) Who is Apollos? Who is Paul? They are servants who helped you come to faith. Each did what the Lord gave him to do. (6) I planted, and Apollos watered, but God made it grow. (7) So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is important because only God makes it grow. (8) The one who plants and the one who waters have the same goal, and each will receive a reward for his own work. (9) We are God's coworkers. You are God's field. You are God's building. (10) As a skilled and experienced builder, I used the gift that God gave me to lay the foundation for that building. However, someone else is building on it. Each person must be careful how he builds on it. (11) After all, no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is already laid, and that foundation is Jesus Christ. (12) People may build on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw. (13) The day will make what each one does clearly visible because fire will reveal it. That fire will determine what kind of work each person has done. (14) If what a person has built survives, he will receive a reward. (15) If his work is burned up, he will suffer the loss. However, he will be saved, though it will be like going through a fire. (16) Don't you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? (17) If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him because God's temple is holy. You are that holy temple! (18) Don't deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise in the ways of this world, you should give up that wisdom in order to become really wise. (19) The wisdom of this world is nonsense in God's sight. That's why Scripture says, "God catches the wise in their cleverness." (20) Again Scripture says, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are pointless." (21) So don't brag about people. Everything belongs to you. (22) Whether it is Paul, Apollos, Cephas, the world, life or death, present or future things, everything belongs to you. (23) You belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

1 Corinthians 3:1-23 CEV ...My friends, you are acting like the people of this world. That's why I could not speak to you as spiritual people. You are like babies as far as your faith in Christ is concerned. (2) So I had to treat you like babies and feed you milk. You could not take solid food, and you still cannot, (3) because you are not yet spiritual. You are jealous and argue with each other. This proves that you are not spiritual and that you are acting like the people of this world. (4) Some of you say that you follow me, and others claim to follow Apollos. Isn't that how ordinary people behave? (5) Apollos and I are merely servants who helped you to have faith. It was the Lord who made it all happen. (6) I planted the seeds, Apollos watered them, but God made them sprout and grow. (7) What matters isn't those who planted or watered, but God who made the plants grow. (8) The one who plants is just as important as the one who waters. And each one will be paid for what they do. (9) Apollos and I work together for God, and you are God's garden and God's building. (10) God was kind and let me become an expert builder. I laid a foundation on which others have built. But we must each be careful how we build, (11) because Christ is the only foundation. (12) Whatever we build on that foundation will be tested by fire on the day of judgment. Then everyone will find out if we have used gold, silver, and precious stones, or wood, hay, and straw. (13) (SEE 3:12) (14) We will be rewarded if our building is left standing. (15) But if it is destroyed by the fire, we will lose everything. Yet we ourselves will be saved, like someone escaping from flames. (16) All of you surely know that you are God's temple and that his Spirit lives in you. (17) Together you are God's holy temple, and God will destroy anyone who destroys his temple. (18) Don't fool yourselves! If any of you think you are wise in the things of this world, you will have to become foolish before you can be truly wise. (19) This is because God considers the wisdom of this world to be foolish. It is just as the Scriptures say, "God catches the wise when they try to outsmart him." (20) The Scriptures also say, "The Lord knows that the plans made by wise people are useless." (21) So stop bragging about what anyone has done. Paul and Apollos and Peter all belong to you. In fact, everything is yours, including the world, life, death, the present, and the future. Everything belongs to you, (22) (SEE 3:21) (23) and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
