2 Corinthians 3:12-4:6 BBE (12) Having then such a hope, we keep nothing back, (13) And are not like Moses, who put a veil on his face, so that the children of Israel might not see clearly to the end of the present order of things: [Ex. 34:35] (14) But their minds were made hard: for to this very day at the reading of the old agreement the same veil is still unlifted; though it is taken away in Christ. (15) But to this day, at the reading of the law of Moses, a veil is over their heart. (16) But when it is turned to the Lord, the veil will be taken away. (17) Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there the heart is free. (18) But we all, with unveiled face giving back as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 4:1-6 BBE (1) For this reason, because we have been made servants of this new order, through the mercy given to us, we are strong: (2) And we have given up the secret things of shame, not walking in false ways, and not making use of the word of God with deceit; but by the revelation of what is true, as before God, we have the approval of every man's sense of right and wrong. (3) But if our good news is veiled, it is veiled from those who are on the way to destruction: (4) Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them. (5) For our preaching is not about ourselves, but about Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants through Jesus. (6) Seeing that it is God who said, Let light be shining out of the dark, who has put in our hearts the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [Isa. 42:6, 7, 16]

(18) But we all with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Spirit.
2 Corinthians 4:1-6 LITV (1) Therefore, having this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we do not faint. (2) But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor corrupting the Word of God, but by the revelation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men before God. (3) But also if our gospel is being hidden, it has been hidden in those being lost, (4) in whom the god of this age has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the brightness of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. (5) For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your slaves for the sake of Jesus. (6) Because it is God who said, "Out of darkness Light shall shine," who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [Isa. 42:6, 7, 16]

He didn't want the people of Israel to see the glory fading away. [Ex. 34:35] (14) However, their minds became closed. In fact, to this day the same veil is still there when they read the Old Testament. It isn't removed, because only Christ can remove it. (15) Yet, even today, when they read the books of Moses, a veil covers their minds. (16) But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (17) This Lord is the Spirit. Wherever the Lord's Spirit is, there is freedom. (18) As all of us reflect the Lord's glory with faces that are not covered with veils, we are being changed into his image with ever-increasing glory. This comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 4:1-6 GW We don't become discouraged, since God has given us this ministry through his mercy. (2) Instead, we have refused to use secret and shameful ways. We don't use tricks, and we don't distort God's word. As God watches, we clearly reveal the truth to everyone. This is our letter of recommendation. (3) So if the Good News that we tell others is covered with a veil, it is hidden from those who are dying. (4) The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. As a result, they don't see the light of the Good News about Christ's glory. It is Christ who is God's image. (5) Our message is not about ourselves. It is about Jesus Christ as the Lord. We are your servants for his sake. (6) We are his servants because the same God who said that light should shine out of darkness has given us light. For that reason we bring to light the knowledge about God's glory which shines from Christ's face. [Isa. 42:6, 7, 16]
