2 Corinthians 4:1-6 CEV
(1) God has been kind enough to trust us with this work. That's why we never give up.
(2) We don't do shameful things that must be kept secret. And we don't try to fool anyone or twist God's message around. God is our witness that we speak only the truth, so others will be sure that we can be trusted.
(3) If there is anything hidden about our message, it is hidden only to someone who is lost.
(4) The god who rules this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers. They cannot see the light, which is the good news about our glorious Christ, who shows what God is like.
(5) We are not preaching about ourselves. Our message is that Jesus Christ is Lord. He also sent us to be your servants.
(6) The Scriptures say, "God commanded light to shine in the dark." Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ.

4 That is why, since we have this ministry according to the mercy that was shown us, we do not give up; 2 but we have renounced the underhanded things of which to be ashamed, not walking with cunning, neither adulterating the word of God, but by making the truth manifest recommending ourselves to every human conscience in the sight of God. 3 If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. 5 For we are preaching, not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus's sake. 6 For God is he who said: "Let the light shine out of darkness," and he has shone on our hearts to illuminate [them] with the glorious knowledge of God by the face of Christ.

(1) Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart.
(2) But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.
(3) And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.
(4) In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
(5) For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus's sake.
(6) For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

(1) We don't become discouraged, since God has given us this ministry through his mercy.
(2) Instead, we have refused to use secret and shameful ways. We don't use tricks, and we don't distort God's word. As God watches, we clearly reveal the truth to everyone. This is our letter of recommendation.
(3) So if the Good News that we tell others is covered with a veil, it is hidden from those who are dying.
(4) The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. As a result, they don't see the light of the Good News about Christ's glory. It is Christ who is God's image.
(5) Our message is not about ourselves. It is about Jesus Christ as the Lord. We are your servants for his sake.
(6) We are his servants because the same God who said that light should shine out of darkness has given us light. For that reason we bring to light the knowledge about God's glory which shines from Christ's face.

(1) For this reason, because we have been made servants of this new order, through the mercy given to us, we are strong:
(2) And we have given up the secret things of shame, not walking in false ways, and not making use of the word of God with deceit; but by the revelation of what is true, as before God, we have the approval of every man's sense of right and wrong.
(3) But if our good news is veiled, it is veiled from those who are on the way to destruction:
(4) Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them.
(5) For our preaching is not about ourselves, but about Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants through Jesus.
(6) Seeing that it is God who said, Let light be shining out of the dark, who has put in our hearts the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
