2 Corinthians 5:16-21 GW (16) So from now on we don't think of anyone from a human point of view. If we did think of Christ from a human point of view, we don't anymore. (17) Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence. (18) God has done all this. He has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. (19) In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn't hold people's faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others. (20) Therefore, we are Christ's representatives, and through us God is calling you. We beg you on behalf of Christ to become reunited with God. (21) God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God's approval through him.
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 GNB (16) No longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards. Even if at one time we judged Christ according to human standards, we no longer do so. (17) Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. (18) All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also. (19) Our message is that God was making all human beings his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends. (20) Here we are, then, speaking for Christ, as though God himself were making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ's behalf: let God change you from enemies into his friends! (21) Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God.

(18) All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; (19) that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. (20) Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. (21) For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

As substitutes for Christ we beg: “Become reconciled to God.” 21 The one who did not know sin he made to be sin for us, that we might become God’s righteousness by means of him.
