Exodus 3:1-10 GW Moses was taking care of the sheep of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. As he led the sheep to the far side of the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of God. (2) The Messenger of the LORD ( יהוה ) appeared to him there as flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses looked, and although the bush was on fire, it was not burning up. (3) So he thought, "Why isn't this bush burning up? I must go over there and see this strange sight." (4) When the LORD ( יהוה ) saw that Moses had come over to see it, God called to him from the bush, "Moses, Moses!" Moses answered, "Here I am!" (5) God said, "Don't come any closer! Take off your sandals because this place where you are standing is holy ground. (6) I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. (7) The LORD ( יהוה ) said, "I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they're suffering. (8) I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone. It is a land flowing with milk and honey where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites live. (9) I have heard the cry of the people of Israel. I have seen how the Egyptians are oppressing them. (10) Now, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you can bring my people Israel out of Egypt."
Exodus 3:1-10 LITV And Moses was feeding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock behind the wilderness and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb. (2) And the Angel of Jehovah ( יהוה ) appeared to him in a flame of fire from the middle of a thorn bush. And he looked, and behold, the thorn bush was burning with fire, and the thorn bush was not burned up! (3) And Moses said, I will turn aside now and see this great sight, why the thorn bush is not burned up. (4) And Jehovah ( יהוה ) saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the thorn bush, and said, Moses! Moses! And he said, Behold me. (5) And He said, Do not come near here. Pull off your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. (6) And He said, I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he feared to look upon God. (7) And Jehovah ( יהוה ) said, Seeing I have seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry from before their taskmasters; for I know his sorrows. (8) And I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and broad land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite. (9) And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me, and I also have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them. (10) And now, come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, and you bring My people out, the sons of Israel out of Egypt.

(2) There the angel of the LORD ( יהוה ) appeared to him as a flame coming from the middle of a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire but that it was not burning up. (3) "This is strange," he thought. "Why isn't the bush burning up? I will go closer and see." (4) When the LORD ( יהוה ) saw that Moses was coming closer, he called to him from the middle of the bush and said, "Moses! Moses!" He answered, "Yes, here I am." (5) God said, "Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. (6) I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." So Moses covered his face, because he was afraid to look at God. (7) Then the LORD ( יהוה ) said, "I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings, (8) and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile and in which the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites now live. (9) I have indeed heard the cry of my people, and I see how the Egyptians are oppressing them. (10) Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country."
