John 17:1-26 GNB After Jesus finished saying this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your Son, so that the Son may give glory to you. (2) For you gave him authority over all people, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him. (3) And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent. (4) I have shown your glory on earth; I have finished the work you gave me to do. (5) Father! Give me glory in your presence now, the same glory I had with you before the world was made. (6) "I have made you known to those you gave me out of the world. (John 6:44; John 6:65) They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They have obeyed your word, (7) and now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. (8) I gave them the message that you gave me, and they received it; they know that it is true that I came from you, and they believe that you sent me. (9) "I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those you gave me, for they belong to you. (10) All I have is yours, and all you have is mine; and my glory is shown through them. (11) And now I am coming to you; I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world. Holy Father! Keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one just as you and I are one. (12) While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me. I protected them, and not one of them was lost, except the man who was bound to be lost---so that the scripture might come true. (13) And now I am coming to you, and I say these things in the world so that they might have my joy in their hearts in all its fullness. (14) I gave them your message, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. (15) I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to keep them safe from the Evil One. (16) Just as I do not belong to the world, they do not belong to the world. (17) Dedicate them to yourself by means of the truth; your word is truth. (18) I sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world. (19) And for their sake I dedicate myself to you, in order that they, too, may be truly dedicated to you. (20) "I pray not only for them, but also for those who believe in me because of their message. (21) I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me. (22) I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: (23) I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me. (24) "Father! You have given them to me, and I want them to be with me where I am, so that they may see my glory, the glory you gave me; for you loved me before the world was made. (25) Righteous Father! The world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you sent me. (26) I made you known to them, and I will continue to do so, in order that the love you have for me may be in them, and so that I also may be in them."

John 17:1-26 GW After saying this, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the time is here. Give your Son glory so that your Son can give you glory. (2) After all, you've given him authority over all humanity so that he can give eternal life to all those you gave to him. (3) This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent. (4) On earth I have given you glory by finishing the work you gave me to do. (5) Now, Father, give me glory in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world existed. (6) "I have made you known to the people you gave me. (John 6:44; John 6:65) They are from this world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They did what you told them. (7) Now they know that everything you gave me comes from you, (8) because I gave them the message that you gave me. They have accepted this message, and they know for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me. (9) "I pray for them. I'm not praying for the world but for those you gave me, because they are yours. (10) Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine. I have been given glory by the people you have given me. (11) I won't be in the world much longer, but they are in the world, and I'm coming back to you. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me, so that their unity may be like ours. (12) While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name that you gave me. I watched over them, and none of them, except one person, became lost. So Scripture came true. (13) "But now, Father, I'm coming back to you. I say these things while I'm still in the world so that they will have the same joy that I have. (14) I have given them your message. But the world has hated them because they don't belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. (15) I'm not asking you to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one. (16) They don't belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. (17) "Use the truth to make them holy. Your words are truth. (18) I have sent them into the world the same way you sent me into the world. (19) I'm dedicating myself to this holy work I'm doing for them so that they, too, will use the truth to be holy. (20) "I'm not praying only for them. I'm also praying for those who will believe in me through their message. (21) I pray that all of these people continue to have unity in the way that you, Father, are in me and I am in you. I pray that they may be united with us so that the world will believe that you have sent me. (22) I have given them the glory that you gave me. I did this so that they are united in the same way we are. (23) I am in them, and you are in me. So they are completely united. In this way the world knows that you have sent me and that you have loved them in the same way you have loved me. (24) "Father, I want those you have given to me to be with me, to be where I am. I want them to see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the world was made. (25) Righteous Father, the world didn't know you. Yet, I knew you, and these disciples have known that you sent me. (26) I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known so that the love you have for me will be in them and I will be in them."

John 17:1-26 ESV When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, (2) since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. (3) And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. (4) I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. (5) And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. (6) "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. (John 6:44; John 6:65) Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. (7) Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. (8) For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. (9) I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. (10) All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. (11) And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. (12) While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. (13) But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. (14) I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (15) I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. (16) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (17) Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (18) As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. (19) And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. (20) "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, (21) that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. (22) The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, (23) I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. (24) Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. (25) O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. (26) I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

John 17:1-26 CEV (1) After Jesus had finished speaking to his disciples, he looked up toward heaven and prayed: Father, the time has come for you to bring glory to your Son, in order that he may bring glory to you. (2) And you gave him power over all people, so that he would give eternal life to everyone you give him. (3) Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent. (4) I have brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything you gave me to do. (5) Now, Father, give me back the glory that I had with you before the world was created. (6) You have given me some followers from this world, (John 6:44; John 6:65) and I have shown them what you are like. They were yours, but you gave them to me, and they have obeyed you. (7) They know that you gave me everything I have. (8) I told my followers what you told me, and they accepted it. They know that I came from you, and they believe that you are the one who sent me. (9) I am praying for them, but not for those who belong to this world. My followers belong to you, and I am praying for them. (10) All that I have is yours, and all that you have is mine, and they will bring glory to me. (11) Holy Father, I am no longer in the world. I am coming to you, but my followers are still in the world. So keep them safe by the power of the name that you have given me. Then they will be one with each other, just as you and I are one. (12) While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost, except the one who had to be lost. This happened so that what the Scriptures say would come true. (13) I am on my way to you. But I say these things while I am still in the world, so that my followers will have the same complete joy that I do. (14) I have told them your message. But the people of this world hate them, because they don't belong to this world, just as I don't. (15) Father, I don't ask you to take my followers out of the world, but keep them safe from the evil one. (16) They don't belong to this world, and neither do I. (17) Your word is the truth. So let this truth make them completely yours. (18) I am sending them into the world, just as you sent me. (19) I have given myself completely for their sake, so that they may belong completely to the truth. (20) I am not praying just for these followers. I am also praying for everyone else who will have faith because of what my followers will say about me. (21) I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me. (22) I have honored my followers in the same way that you honored me, in order that they may be one with each other, just as we are one. (23) I am one with them, and you are one with me, so that they may become completely one. Then this world's people will know that you sent me. They will know that you love my followers as much as you love me. (24) Father, I want everyone you have given me to be with me, wherever I am. Then they will see the glory that you have given me, because you loved me before the world was created. (25) Good Father, the people of this world don't know you. But I know you, and my followers know that you sent me. (26) I told them what you are like, and I will tell them even more. Then the love that you have for me will become part of them, and I will be one with them.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
