You must be born again by knowing and expressing faith
in the teachings of Jesus Christ!

John 3:1-10 GNB There was a Jewish leader named Nicodemus, who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. (2) One night he went to Jesus and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God. No one could perform the miracles you are doing unless God were with him." (3) Jesus answered, "I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again." (4) "How can a grown man be born again?" Nicodemus asked. "He certainly cannot enter his mother's womb and be born a second time!" (5) "I am telling you the truth," replied Jesus, "that no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit (water at physical birth, and by spirit in being drawn to Jesus by God's spirit - [John 6:44]). (6) A person is born physically of human parents, but is born spiritually of the Spirit. (7) Do not be surprised because I tell you that you must all be born again. (8) The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. It is like that with everyone who is born of the Spirit." (9) "How can this be?" asked Nicodemus. (10) Jesus answered, "You are a great teacher in Israel, and you don't know this?
John 18:37 GNB ... I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me."
John 4:25-26 GNB The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah will come, and when he comes, he will tell us everything." (26) Jesus answered, "I am he, I who am talking with you."
John 8:31-32 GNB So Jesus said to those who believed in him, "If you obey my teaching, you are really my disciples; (32) you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (they are born again). [2 Cor 5:17 - 6:2]
John 3:1-10 ESV Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. (2) This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him." (3) Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." (4) Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" (5) Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (water at physical birth, and by spirit in being drawn to Jesus by God's spirit - [John 6:44]). (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' (8) The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." (9) Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?" (10) Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?
John 18:37 ESV ... For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world--to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
John 4:25-26 ESV The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." (26) Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."
John 8:31-32 ESV So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, (32) and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." [2 Cor 5:17 - 6:2]
John 3:1-10 GW Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Jewish council. (2) He came to Jesus one night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that God has sent you as a teacher. No one can perform the miracles you perform unless God is with him." (3) Jesus replied to Nicodemus, "I can guarantee this truth: No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above." (4) Nicodemus asked him, "How can anyone be born when he's an old man? He can't go back inside his mother a second time to be born, can he?" (5) Jesus answered Nicodemus, "I can guarantee this truth: No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit (water at physical birth, and by spirit in being drawn to Jesus by God's spirit - [John 6:44]). (6) Flesh and blood give birth to flesh and blood, but the Spirit gives birth to things that are spiritual. (7) Don't be surprised when I tell you that all of you must be born from above. (8) The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you don't know where the wind comes from or where it's going. That's the way it is with everyone born of the Spirit." (9) Nicodemus replied, "How can that be?" (10) Jesus told Nicodemus, "You're a well-known teacher of Israel. Can't you understand this?
John 18:37 GW ... I have been born and have come into the world for this reason: to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to me."
John 4:25-26 GW The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah is coming. When he comes, he will tell us everything." (Messiah is the one called Christ.) (26) Jesus told her, "I am he, and I am speaking to you now."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
