John 6:41-58 CEV The people started grumbling because Jesus had said he was the bread that had come down from heaven. (42) They were asking each other, "Isn't he Jesus, the son of Joseph? Don't we know his father and mother? How can he say that he has come down from heaven?" (43) Jesus told them: Stop grumbling! (44) No one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me makes them want to come. But if they do come, I will raise them to life on the last day. (45) One of the prophets wrote, "God will teach all of them." And so everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him will come to me. (46) The only one who has seen the Father is the one who has come from him. No one else has ever seen the Father. (47) I tell you for certain that everyone who has faith in me has eternal life. (48) I am the bread that gives life! (49) Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, and later they died. (50) But the bread from heaven has come down, so that no one who eats it will ever die. (51) I am that bread from heaven! Everyone who eats it will live forever. My flesh is the life-giving bread that I give to the people of this world. (52) They started arguing with each other and asked, "How can he give us his flesh to eat?" (53) Jesus answered: I tell you for certain that you won't live unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man. (54) But if you do eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will have eternal life, and I will raise you to life on the last day. (55) My flesh is the true food, and my blood is the true drink. (56) If you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you are one with me, and I am one with you. (57) The living Father sent me, and I have life because of him. Now everyone who eats my flesh will live because of me. (58) The bread that comes down from heaven isn't like what your ancestors ate. They died, but whoever eats this bread will live forever.
John 6:41-58 ALT Therefore, the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, "I am the bread having come down out of heaven." (42) And they said, "Is this not Jesus, the Son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then says this One, "I have come down out of heaven?" (43) So Jesus answered and said to them, "Stop grumbling with one another. (44) "No one is able to come to Me unless the Father having sent Me draws [or, drags] him, and I will raise him up in the last day. (45) "It has been written in the prophets, 'And they will all be taught of God.' Therefore, every [one] hearing from the Father and having learned comes to Me. [Isaiah 54:13] (46) "Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One being from God, He has seen the Father. (47) "Most positively, I say to youp, the one believing in Me has eternal life. (48) "I am the bread of life! (49) "Yourp fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. (50) "This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that anyone shall eat from it and shall not die. (51) "I am the living bread, the One having come down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread he will live into the age [fig., forever], and indeed the bread which I will give is My flesh, which I will give on behalf of the life of the world." (52) Therefore, the Jews began disputing with one another, saying, "How is this One able to give to us His flesh to eat?" (53) So Jesus said to them, "Most positively, I say to youp, unless youp eat the flesh of the Son of Humanity and drink His blood, youp do not have life in yourselves. (54) "The one eating My flesh and drinking My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up {in} the last day. (55) "For My flesh truly is food, and My blood truly is drink. (56) "The one eating My flesh and drinking My blood remains in Me, and I in him. (57) "Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, also the one feeding on Me, that one will also live because of Me. (58) "This is the bread having come down out of heaven, not as yourp fathers ate the manna and died. The one eating this bread will live into the age [fig., forever]!"

We know his father and mother. How, then, does he now say he came down from heaven?" (43) Jesus answered, "Stop grumbling among yourselves. (44) People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me; and I will raise them to life on the last day. (45) The prophets wrote, 'Everyone will be taught by God.' Anyone who hears the Father and learns from him comes to me. (46) This does not mean that anyone has seen the Father; he who is from God is the only one who has seen the Father. (47) I am telling you the truth: he who believes has eternal life. (48) I am the bread of life. (49) Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died. (50) But the bread that comes down from heaven is of such a kind that whoever eats it will not die. (51) I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If you eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live." (52) This started an angry argument among them. "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" they asked. (53) Jesus said to them, "I am telling you the truth: if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in yourselves. (54) Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day. (55) For my flesh is the real food; my blood is the real drink. (56) Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them. (57) The living Father sent me, and because of him I live also. In the same way whoever eats me will live because of me. (58) This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, but then later died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."
John 6:41-58 GW The Jews began to criticize Jesus for saying, "I am the bread that came from heaven." (42) They asked, "Isn't this man Jesus, Joseph's son? Don't we know his father and mother? How can he say now, 'I came from heaven'?" (43) Jesus responded, "Stop criticizing me! (44) People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them to me. I will bring these people back to life on the last day. (45) The prophets wrote, 'God will teach everyone.' Those who do what they have learned from the Father come to me. (46) I'm saying that no one has seen the Father. Only the one who is from God has seen the Father. (47) I can guarantee this truth: Every believer has eternal life. (48) "I am the bread of life. (49) Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert and died. (50) This is the bread that comes from heaven so that whoever eats it won't die. (51) I am the living bread that came from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. The bread I will give to bring life to the world is my flesh." (52) The Jews began to quarrel with each other. They said, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" (53) Jesus told them, "I can guarantee this truth: If you don't eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don't have the source of life in you. (54) Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will bring them back to life on the last day. (55) My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. (56) Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them. (57) The Father who has life sent me, and I live because of the Father. So those who feed on me will live because of me. (58) This is the bread that came from heaven. It is not like the bread your ancestors ate. They eventually died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."
