John 7:16-18 GW Jesus responded to them, "What I teach doesn't come from me but from the one who sent me. (17) Those who want to follow the will of God will know if what I teach is from God or if I teach my own thoughts. (18) Those who speak their own thoughts are looking for their own glory. But the man who wants to bring glory to the one who sent him is a true teacher and doesn't have dishonest motives.

(17) Whoever is willing to do what God wants will know whether what I teach comes from God or whether I speak on my own authority. (18) Those who speak on their own authority are trying to gain glory for themselves. But he who wants glory for the one who sent him is honest, and there is nothing false in him.

(17) If you really want to obey God, you will know if what I teach comes from God or from me. (18) If I wanted to bring honor to myself, I would speak for myself. But I want to honor the one who sent me. That is why I tell the truth and not a lie.

(17) If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. (18) The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek.
