Matthew 16:24-25 GNB Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If any of you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me. (25) For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it; but if you lose your life for my sake, you will find it.

This scripture does not mean every follower of Christ will have to die for their faith. It just means our faith must be most important, even more important than life itself.

Matthew 16:24-25 GW Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me. (25) Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will find them.
