Matthew 8:21-22 CEV Another disciple said to Jesus, "Lord, let me wait till I bury my father." (22) Jesus answered, "Come with me, and let the dead bury their dead."

In light of Jesus's loving concern for people, it seems unlikely he would forbid someone from burying their father. Some individuals think this disciples father was aged and he was asking Jesus to allow him time to care for his father until he died. Jesus resurrected people so it would seem if this disciple had real faith in Jesus, he could have requested a resurrection for his beloved father. [Luke 7:11-17] In any case, it seems Jesus was simply making clear the best intentioned activities of this world are those of soon to be dead people. [Mat 24:37-39] Only listening to and obeying Christ can bring them to life out of death. [John 5:24]
