Romans 7:18-25 GNB
(18) I know that good does not live in me---that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it.
(19) I don't do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do.
(20) If I do what I don't want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it; instead, it is the sin that lives in me.
(21) So I find that this law is at work: when I want to do what is good, what is evil is the only choice I have.
(22) My inner being delights in the law of God.
(23) But I see a different law at work in my body---a law that fights against the law which my mind approves of. It makes me a prisoner to the law of sin which is at work in my body.
(24) What an unhappy man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is taking me to death?
(25) Thanks be to God, who does this through our Lord Jesus Christ! This, then, is my condition: on my own I can serve God's law only with my mind, while my human nature serves the law of sin.

18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, there dwells nothing good; for ability to wish is present with me, but ability to work out what is fine is not [present]. 19 For the good that I wish I do not do, but the bad that I do not wish is what I practice. 20 If, now, what I do not wish is what I do, the one working it out is no longer I, but the sin dwelling in me. 21 I find, then, this law in my case: that when I wish to do what is right, what is bad is present with me. 22 I really delight in the law of God according to the man I am within, 23 but I behold in my members another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sin's law that is in my members. 24 Miserable man that I am! Who will rescue me from the body undergoing this death? 25 Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So, then, with [my] mind I myself am a slave to God's law, but with [my] flesh to sin's law.

(23) But I discover a different law in my body parts, warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity by the law of the sin that [is] in my members.
(24) [What] a wretched person I [am]! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?
(25) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord; so consequently, _I_ myself on the one hand with the mind serve as a slave to the Law of God, on the other hand with the flesh, [the] law of sin.

(18) I know that my selfish desires won't let me do anything that is good. Even when I want to do right, I cannot.
(19) Instead of doing what I know is right, I do wrong.
(20) And so, if I don't do what I know is right, I am no longer the one doing these evil things. The sin that lives in me is what does them.
(21) The Law has shown me that something in me keeps me from doing what I know is right.
(22) With my whole heart I agree with the Law of God.
(23) But in every part of me I discover something fighting against my mind, and it makes me a prisoner of sin that controls everything I do.
(24) What a miserable person I am. Who will rescue me from this body that is doomed to die?
(25) Thank God! Jesus Christ will rescue me. So with my mind I serve the Law of God, although my selfish desires make me serve the law of sin.
