Martha here expressed faith in the resurrection she had been taught would happen "on the last day;" when Christ returns. Jesus told her [and us through her] she was right. He also said those who are alive at the time of his return will never die at all. He then demonstrates he is the resurrection and the life by bringing Lazarus back from the dead. It seems it is now the time for Christ's return, and, if we have faith, we will never die at all. As Jesus asked Martha:
"Do you believe this?"
