Matthew 26:6-13 ESV ...Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, (7) a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. (8) And when the disciples saw it, (See also: John 12:4 of 1-8) they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste? (9) For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor." (10) But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. (11) For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. (12) In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. (13) Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."

(7) While Jesus was eating, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar filled with an expensive perfume, which she poured on his head. (8) The disciples saw this (See also: John 12:4 of 1-8) and became angry. "Why all this waste?" they asked. (9) "This perfume could have been sold for a large amount and the money given to the poor!" (10) Jesus knew what they were saying, and so he said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? It is a fine and beautiful thing that she has done for me. (11) You will always have poor people with you, but you will not always have me. (12) What she did was to pour this perfume on my body to get me ready for burial. (13) Now, I assure you that wherever this gospel is preached all over the world, what she has done will be told in memory of her."

(11) For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me. (12) For in putting this ointment on My body, she did it in order to bury Me. (13) Truly I say to you, Wherever this gospel is proclaimed in all the world, what she did will be spoken of for a memorial of her.
Matthew 26:6-13 ALT ...Now Jesus having been in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper [or, the one with a skin disease], (7) a woman came to Him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment [or, perfume], and she poured [it] on His head as He [was] reclining [to eat]. (8) But having seen [it], His disciples were indignant, (See also: John 12:4 of 1-8) saying, "Why this waste? (9) "For this ointment could have been sold for much and been given to {the} poor." (10) But having known, Jesus said to them, "Why do youp cause the woman troubles [fig., bother the woman]? For she worked a good work to Me [or, performed a good deed for Me]. (11) "For youp always have the poor with yourselves, but youp do not always have Me. (12) "For when this [woman] put this ointment on My body, she did [it] to prepare Me for burial. (13) "Positively, I say to youp, wherever this Gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this [woman] did will also be spoken of—in memory of her."
