This prophetic Psalm was written about 500 years before Christ started his ministry. It very accurately details how God's enemies [the religious leaders of his chosen nation] would treat his son. Imagine Jesus reading this while growing up. (Luke 2:40-52)
Psalms 22:1-31 MWT . . .(A psalm by David for the music leader. To the tune "A Deer at Dawn.") My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far away? Won't you listen to my groans and come to my rescue? (2) I cry out day and night, but you don't answer, and I can never rest. (3) Yet you are the holy God, ruling from your throne on he praise of Israel. (4) Our ancestors trusted you, and you rescued them. (5) When they cried out for help, you saved them, and you did not let them down when they depended on you. (6) But I am merely a worm, far less than human, and I am hated and rejected by people everywhere.

(7) Everyone who sees me makes fun and sneers. They shake their heads, (8) and say, "You trusted in יהוה! If you are his favorite, let him protect you and keep you safe." (9) You, יהוה, brought me safely through birth, and you protected me when I was a baby at my mother's breast. (10) From the day I was born, I have been in your care, and from the time of my birth, you have been my God. (11) Don't stay far off when I am in trouble with no one to help me. (12) Enemies are all around like a herd of wild bulls. Powerful bulls from Bashan are everywhere. (13) My enemies are like lions roaring and attacking with jaws open wide. (14) My strength is poured out like a few drops of water. All my bones are out of joint; my heart is like melted wax. (15) My strength has dried up like a broken clay pot, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You, God, have left me to die in the dust. (16) Brutal enemies attack me like a pack of dogs, tearing at my hands and my feet. (17) I can count all my bones, and my enemies just stare and sneer at me. (18) They took my clothes and gambled for them. (19) Don't stay far away, יהוה! My strength comes from you, so hurry and help. (20) Rescue me from enemy swords and save me from those dogs. (21) Don't let lions eat me. You rescued me from the horns of wild bulls. (22) When your people meet, I will praise you, O יהוה. (23) All who worship יהוה, now praise him! You belong to Abraham and to Jacob's family, to the people of Israel; so fear and honor יהוה! (Gal 3:19-29) (24) יהוה doesn't hate or despise the helpless in all of their troubles. When I cried out, he listened and did not turn away. (25) When your people meet, you will fill my heart with your praises, יהוה, and everyone will see me keep my promises to you. (26) The poor will eat and be full, and all who worship you will be thankful and live in hope. (27) Everyone on this earth will remember you, יהוה. People all over the world will turn and worship your king, (28) because you are in control, you have placed the ruler over nations. (29) All who are rich and have more than enough will bow down to your Christ. He did not keep his own soul alive; yet even those who are dying and almost in the grave will come and bow down to him. (30) In the future, everyone will worship and learn about you, O יהוה God Almighty. (31) People not yet born will be told, "יהוה has saved us!"

Psalms 22:1-31 GNB . . .My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I have cried desperately for help, but still it does not come. (2) During the day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer; I call at night, but get no rest. (3) But you are enthroned as the Holy One, the one whom Israel praises. (4) Our ancestors put their trust in you; they trusted you, and you saved them. (5) They called to you and escaped from danger; they trusted you and were not disappointed. (6) But I am no longer a human being; I am a worm, despised and scorned by everyone! (7) All who see me make fun of me; they stick out their tongues and shake their heads. (8) "You relied on the LORD," they say. "Why doesn't he save you? If the LORD likes you, why doesn't he help you?" (9) It was you who brought me safely through birth, and when I was a baby, you kept me safe. (10) I have relied on you since the day I was born, and you have always been my God. (11) Do not stay away from me! Trouble is near, and there is no one to help. (12) Many enemies surround me like bulls; they are all around me, like fierce bulls from the land of Bashan. (13) They open their mouths like lions, roaring and tearing at me. (14) My strength is gone, gone like water spilled on the ground. All my bones are out of joint; my heart is like melted wax. (15) My throat is as dry as dust, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have left me for dead in the dust. (16) An evil gang is around me; like a pack of dogs they close in on me; they tear at my hands and feet. (17) All my bones can be seen. My enemies look at me and stare. (18) They gamble for my clothes and divide them among themselves. (19) O LORD, don't stay away from me! Come quickly to my rescue! (20) Save me from the sword; save my life from these dogs. (21) Rescue me from these lions; I am helpless before these wild bulls. (22) I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their assembly: (23) "Praise him, you servants of the LORD! Honor him, you descendants of Jacob! Worship him, you people of Israel! (Gal 3:19-29) (24) He does not neglect the poor or ignore their suffering; he does not turn away from them, but answers when they call for help." (25) In the full assembly I will praise you for what you have done; in the presence of those who worship you I will offer the sacrifices I promised. (26) The poor will eat as much as they want; those who come to the LORD will praise him. May they prosper forever! (27) All nations will remember the LORD. From every part of the world they will turn to him; all races will worship him. (28) The Lord is king, and he rules the nations. (29) All proud people will bow down to him; all mortals will bow down before him. (30) Future generations will serve him; they will speak of the Lord to the coming generation. (31) People not yet born will be told: "The LORD saved his people."

(2) O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; and in the night, and there is no silence to Me. (3) But You are holy, being enthroned on Israel's praises. (4) Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them. (5) They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed. (6) But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of mankind, and despised by the people. (7) All who see Me scornfully laugh at Me; they open the lip; they shake the head, saying, (8) He rolled on Jehovah  (יהוה), let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him. (9) For You are He, My Taker from the womb; causing Me to trust on My mother's breasts. (10) I was cast on You from the womb, from My mother's belly, You are My God. (11) Be not far from Me; for trouble is near; because no one is there to help. (12) Many bulls have circled around Me; strong bulls of Bashan have surrounded Me. (13) They opened their mouth on Me, like a lion ripping and roaring. (14) I am poured out like waters, and all My bones are spread apart; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels. (15) My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue clings to My jaws; (16) and You appoint Me to the dust of death; for dogs have encircled Me; a band of spoilers have hemmed Me in, piercing My hands and My feet. (17) I count all My bones; they look, they stare at Me. (18) They divide My garments among them, and they made fall a lot for My clothing. (19) But You, O Jehovah  (יהוה), be not far off; O My Strength, hurry to help Me! (20) Deliver My soul from the sword, My only one from the paw of the dog. (21) Save Me from the lion's mouth; and from the horns of the wild oxen. You have answered Me. (22) I will declare Your name to My brothers; I will praise You in the midst of the assembly. (23) You who fear Jehovah  (יהוה), praise Him; all the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and all the seed of Israel, (Gal 3:19-29) fear Him. (24) For He has not despised nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; and He has not hidden His face from Him, but when He cried to Him, He heard. (25) My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those fearing Him. (26) The meek shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek Jehovah  (יהוה) shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever. (27) All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn back to Jehovah  (יהוה); and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. (28) For the kingdom is the Lords; and He is the ruler among the nations. (29) All the fat ones of the earth have eaten, and have worshiped; all those going down to the dust shall bow before Him; and He kept not His own soul alive. (30) A seed shall serve Him; it shall be spoken of the Lord to the coming generation; (31) they shall come and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall yet be born; for He has done it.

Why are you so far away from helping me, so far away from the words of my groaning? (2) My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer- also at night, but I find no rest. (3) Yet, you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. (4) Our ancestors trusted you. They trusted, and you rescued them. (5) They cried to you and were saved. They trusted you and were never disappointed. (6) Yet, I am a worm and not a man. I am scorned by humanity and despised by people. (7) All who see me make fun of me. Insults pour from their mouths. They shake their heads and say, (8) "Put yourself in the LORD'S hands. Let the LORD save him! Let God rescue him since he is pleased with him!" (9) Indeed, you are the one who brought me out of the womb, the one who made me feel safe at my mother's breasts. (10) I was placed in your care from birth. From my mother's womb you have been my God. (11) Do not be so far away from me. Trouble is near, and there is no one to help. (12) Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls from Bashan have encircled me. (13) They have opened their mouths to attack me like ferocious, roaring lions. (14) I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It has melted within me. (15) My strength is dried up like pieces of broken pottery. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You lay me down in the dust of death. (16) Dogs have surrounded me. A mob has encircled me. They have pierced my hands and feet. (17) I can count all my bones. People stare. They gloat over me. (18) They divide my clothes among themselves. They throw dice for my clothing. (19) Do not be so far away, O LORD. Come quickly to help me, O my strength. (20) Rescue my soul from the sword, my life from vicious dogs. (21) Save me from the mouth of the lion and from the horns of wild oxen. You have answered me. (22) I will tell my people about your name. I will praise you within the congregation. (23) All who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, (Gal 3:19-29) glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel. (24) The LORD has not despised or been disgusted with the plight of the oppressed one. He has not hidden his face from that person. The LORD heard when that oppressed person cried out to him for help. (25) My praise comes from you while I am among those assembled for worship. I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who fear the LORD. (26) Oppressed people will eat until they are full. Those who look to the LORD will praise him. May you live forever. (27) All the ends of the earth will remember and return to the LORD. All the families from all the nations will worship you (28) because the kingdom belongs to the Lord and he rules the nations. (29) All prosperous people on earth will eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust will kneel in front of him, even those who are barely alive. (30) There will be descendants who serve him, a generation that will be told about the Lord. (31) They will tell people yet to be born about his righteousness- that he has finished it.
