We quote this same verse (below) from the English Catholic Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible to illustrate an important point. The translation is highly edited to provide what the translators believed to be clarifying explanations of God's word. That is very dangerous for sincere Bible students. If the translators misinterpreted the meaning of the scripture, they went on to make their error in understanding a part of their Bible, asserting it to be God's word. Note how they add a person is defiled for willfully "transgressing the ordinance of God, or of those who have their authority from him." Their organization teaches those who take or "have their authority from God" are the Catholic clergy, of course. The Bible makes no such teaching. The Bible does teach we should all be very careful to take direction only from Christ. (Acts 20:29-30; John 12:48-50) The child abusing activity of their clergy and nunnery bears our the error of their addition to this scripture as a supposed Bible teaching. We mention Catholics but the other religious sects are just as bad. If you are part of any of them, you must turn away and start following Christ by reading his words. (John 17:3; Mark 3:31-35) You form of worship will be in speaking about the truth you learn from Christ, (John 17:17) and in sharing life with other Christian men and women of loving-kindness. As you do so, your very life becomes your form of worship right on into eternity. Please realize you are hearing the truth that will allow you to abandon being misled by the religious sects
of this world. (Mat 7:21-23; Rev 18:1-6)
Matthew 15:11 Douay-Rheims (11) Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but what cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Not that which goeth into, etc. . .No uncleanness in meat, nor any dirt contracted by eating it with unwashed hands, can defile the soul: but sin alone; or a disobedience of the heart to the ordinance and will of God. And thus when Adam took the forbidden fruit, it was not the apple, which entered into the mouth, but the disobedience to the law of God which defiled him. The name is to be said if a Jew, in the time of the old law, had eaten swine's flesh; or a Christian convert, in the days of the apostles, contrary to their ordinance, had eaten blood; or if any of the faithful at present should transgress the ordinance of God's church, by breaking the fasts: for in all these cases the soul would be defiled; not indeed by that which goeth into the mouth; but by he disobedience of the heart, in wilfully transgressing the ordinance of God, or of those who have their authority from him.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek.
