Revelation 6:12-17 LITV (12) And I saw when He opened the sixth seal. And behold, a great earthquake occurred. And the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair (the enpty promise of spiritual light from false religion were exposed as black); and the moon became as blood; (13) and the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree being shaken by a great wind casts its unripe figs. (14) And the heaven departed like a scroll being rolled up. And every mountain and island were moved out of their places. (15) And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. (16) And "they said to the mountains" and to the rocks, "Fall on us," and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, (Hos. 10:8) (17) because the great day of His wrath has come; and who is able to stand?

These verses refer to the mountains and stars as individuals or groups or governments the people of earth have elevated and looked up to (prayed to) for protection and salvation. (Jer 51:25; Zec 4:7) They are rolled up like a scroll (destroyed or brought low). This can be clearly understood starting in verse 15, as people try to hide among them, begging for them to protect them from the revelation of the wrath of God and his Christ.

Revelation 6:12-17 GNB And I saw the Lamb break open the sixth seal. There was a violent earthquake, and the sun became black like coarse black cloth (the enpty promise of spiritual light from false religion), and the moon turned completely red like blood. (13) The stars fell down to the earth, like unripe figs falling from the tree when a strong wind shakes it. (14) The sky disappeared like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place. (15) Then the kings of the earth, the rulers and the military chiefs, the rich and the powerful, and all other people, slave and free, hid themselves in caves and under rocks on the mountains. (16) They called out to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the eyes of the one who sits on the throne and from the anger of the Lamb! (Hos. 10:8) (17) The terrible day of their anger is here, and who can stand up against it?"

Revelation 6:12-17 NWT 12 And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake occurred; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair (the enpty promise of spiritual light from false religion), and the entire moon became as blood, 13 and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as when a fig tree shaken by a high wind casts its unripe figs. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and [every] island were removed from their places. 15 And the kings of the earth and the top-ranking ones and the military commanders and the rich and the strong ones and every slave and [every] free person hid themselves in the caves and in the rock-masses of the mountains. 16 And they keep saying to the mountains and to the rock-masses: “Fall over us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, (Hos. 10:8) 17 because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Revelation 6:12-17 GW I watched as the lamb opened the sixth seal. A powerful earthquake struck. The sun turned as black as sackcloth made of hair (the enpty promise of spiritual light from false religion). The full moon turned as red as blood. (13) The stars fell from the sky to the earth like figs dropping from a fig tree when it is shaken by a strong wind. (14) The sky vanished like a scroll being rolled up. Every mountain and island was moved from its place. (15) Then the kings of the earth, the important people, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and all the slaves and free people hid themselves in caves and among the rocks in the mountains. (16) They said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the anger of the lamb, (Hos. 10:8) (17) because the frightening day of their anger has come, and who is able to endure it?"

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
