Matthew 24:4-8 GNB ...Jesus answered, "Watch out, and do not let anyone fool you. (5) Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, 'I am the Messiah!' and they will fool many people. (6) You are going to hear the noise of battles close by and the news of battles far away; but do not be troubled. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come. (7) Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be famines and earthquakes everywhere. (8) All these things are like the first pains of childbirth.
Jesus here makes a distinction between the two parts of the tribulation... The lesser part or start of the tribulation, running from 607 BCE [when God's temple and human kingdom over the earth was temporarily destroyed] until 1914, when Christ was seated on the throne of David (Luke 1:30-33) as God's new and eternal king of the earth; also marking the start of the "final" or "end" or "Great Tribulation of the last days." (Mat 24:21-22) We can thus distinguish "the tribulation" [607 BCE to 2024 CE] from the different period of "The Great Tribulation" [1914 CE to 2024 CE] which makes up the end or final days of "the tribulation." Jesus warned us that "Great Tribulation" would be a sign. (Mat 24:21-22)

They will say, 'I am the Messiah,' [or his stand-in] and they will deceive many people. (6) "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Don't be alarmed! These things must happen, but they don't mean that the end has come. (7) Nation will fight against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. (8) All of these are only the beginning pains of the end.
Matthew 24:4-8 CEV ...Jesus answered: Don't let anyone fool you. (5) Many will come and claim to be me. They will say that they are the Messiah, and they will fool many people. (6) You will soon hear about wars and threats of wars, but don't be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that isn't the end. (7) Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other. People will starve to death, and in some places there will be earthquakes. (8) But this is just the beginning of troubles.

(7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. (8) All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
