Daniel 8:23-26 GNB "When the end of those kingdoms is near and they have become so wicked that they must be punished, *1 there will be a stubborn, vicious, and deceitful king. (24) He will grow strong---but not by his own power. He will cause terrible destruction and be successful in everything he does. He will bring destruction on powerful men and on God's own people. *2 (25) Because he is cunning, he will succeed in his deceitful ways. He will be proud of himself and destroy many people without warning. He will even defy the greatest King of all, but he will be destroyed without the use of any human power. (26) This vision about the evening and morning sacrifices which has been explained to you will come true. But keep it secret now, because it will be a long time before it does come true."
*1 (Note: As this world becomes more and more wicked, it will or has reached a point where no good person can be produced. - Gen 6:5-8) At that time, it needs to be destroyed.
*2 (Note: The NWT says "in a wonderful way he will cause ruin." This verse may mean he will be saying his actions are "wonderful" while he actually brings only harm and/or death to many.)
(This vision was given Daniel and inspired to be recorded a little over 2500 years ago. Righteous people are listening to Christ and thus have freedom to choose the life they want. (John 8:31-32) The wicked are stupid and are left to die in their sins. (John 8:23-24) Sometimes, wicked people are used like marionettes on strings, just as this last wicked king of Daniels vision: He is lost to God by having chosen badness, but is being manipulated to help God bring about the end of this whole wicked system. - Dan 2:44Mat 6:9-10Isa 60:22) Be careful not to judge. (1 Cor 4:5; Rom 12:19) If, however, this scriptural description of the last wicked king reminds you of someone, you can know peronsally if it is him by watching what becomes of him. This prophecy will be fulfilled.
Not becasue I say it; God's word says so!

Daniel 8:23-26 LITV And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have come to the full, *1 a king, strong of face and skilled at intrigues, shall stand up. (24) And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power. And he shall destroy wondrously, *2 and he shall prosper, and work, and destroy the mighty, and the holy people. (25) And also through his skill he will make deceit succeed in his land. And he will lift himself up in his heart, and be at ease; he shall destroy many. He shall also stand up against the Ruler of rulers, but he shall be shattered without a hand. (26) And the morning and evening vision that was told is true. But you shall shut up the vision, for it shall be for many days.

Daniel 8:23-26 CEV When these rulers have become as evil as possible, *1 their power will end, and then a king who is dangerous and cannot be trusted will appear. (24) He will gain strength, but not on his own, and he will cause terrible destruction. *2 He will wipe out powerful leaders and God's people as well. (25) His deceitful lies will make him so successful, that he will think he is really great. Suddenly he will kill many people, and he will even attack God, the Supreme Ruler. But God will crush him! (26) This vision about the evenings and mornings is true, but these things won't happen for a long time, so don't tell it to others.

Daniel 8:23-26 ESV And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, *1 a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise. (24) His power shall be great--but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction and shall succeed in what he does, *2 and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints. (25) By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall become great. Without warning he shall destroy many. And he shall even rise up against the Prince of princes, and he shall be broken--but by no human hand. (26) The vision of the evenings and the mornings that has been told is true, but seal up the vision, for it refers to many days from now."

Daniel 8:23-26 GW "In the last days of those kingdoms, when rebellions are finished, *1 a stern-looking king who understands mysterious things will rise to power. (24) He will become very strong, but not by his own strength. He will cause astounding destruction *2 and will be successful in everything he does. He will destroy those who are powerful along with some holy people. (25) He will cleverly use his power to deceive others successfully. He will consider himself to be great and destroy many people when they don't expect it. He will oppose the Commander of Commanders, but he will be defeated, though not by any human power. (26) The vision about the 2,300 evenings and mornings that was explained to you is true. Seal the vision, because it is about things that will happen in the distant future."

Daniel 8:23-26 BBE And in the later years of their kingdom, when their evil doings have become complete, *1 there will come up a king full of pride and expert in dark sayings. (24) And his power will be great, and he will be purposing strange things. *2 And all will go well for him and he will do his pleasure; and he will send destruction on the strong ones. (25) And his designs will be turned against the holy people, causing deceit to do well in his hand; in his heart he will make himself great, and send destruction on numbers who are living unconscious of their danger; and he will put himself up against the prince of princes; but he will be broken, though not by men's hands. (26) And the vision of evenings and mornings which has been talked of is true: and keep the vision secret; for it has to do with the far-off future.

Daniel 8:23-26 NWT 23 “And in the final part of their kingdom, as the transgressors act to a completion, *1 there will stand up a king fierce in countenance and understanding ambiguous sayings. 24 And his power must become mighty, but not by his own power. And in a wonderful way he will cause ruin, *2 and he will certainly prove successful and do effectively. And he will actually bring mighty ones to ruin, also the people made up of [the] holy ones. 25 And according to his insight he will also certainly cause deception to succeed in his hand. And in his heart he will put on great airs, and during a freedom from care he will bring many to ruin. And against the Prince of princes he will stand up, but it will be without hand that he will be broken. 26 “And the thing seen concerning the evening and the morning, which has been said, it is true. And you, for your part, keep secret the vision, because it is yet for many days.”

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
