I was reticent to provide this information... God has given only one command since Jesus was born. Out of heaven He said, "This is my son, listen to him." (Mat 17:5) God's command to listen to Jesus is important as that focuses us on Christ's teachings as the central theme of the Bible. So, I mostly just encourage everyone to read the words of Christ; (John 6:63; Gal 5:16-21; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) because, too much attention to too many bits of information can be confusing for me. I have an old friend who believes Paul was crucified upside down, He asserts Paul requested it be so because he didn't feel worthy to die like Christ... My friend likes to talk about that, and many other "facts" that can be very emotional. Since it doesn't come from the Bible, I can't imagine how I could verify such a thing. Giving too much attention to detail worries me I might become like the Athenians. (Acts 17:21) Too much information maybe! (Ecc 12:11-14) My point is: Our learning lots of Bible facts without gleaning its theme equates with our remaining among those "not able to see the forest for the trees." The theme of the Bible is the overview of God's wonderful plan and provision of protection. It is the revelation of his gift of eternal life. Could you really thank him for, and/or even take advantage of that gift, if you only know about a few of the trees that form it. The theme of the Bible is revealed in the teachings of Jesus Christ... His teachings give "you" an overview of the whole of God's provision for "your" life. (Gal 3:23-25) Careful: Not all understand their need to listen to Jesus alone! And, even among those who do have a measure of understanding, many don't truly believe... (Mat 7:15) There are lots of very religious people who imagine they are pleasing God by being joined to some sect of men. (Luke 13:24-29) Most then measure [judge] whether they are pleasing to God by group approval (Luke 6:26) and by how much head knowledge they have, (1 Cor 1:21-24) and/or, by the emotional highs they receive from being in association. It seems they are giving glory to each other as they pat themselves on the back over their sectarian accomplishments and doctrine. (John 5:44) They seem unable to ever realize the one simple truth: (2 Tim 3:7) That whether men and women or sects of them approve or think well of you means nothing... (Luke 6:26; 1 Cor 4:1-5) All false Christians fail to realize our life exists in our personally knowing and believing in the words of Jesus Christ, (John 6:63) not in human memberships or approval. We can still to this day listen to Christ simply by reading the Gospels. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) Just like in the picture above, what Christ actually said is what we all need to be listening to, and to believe. (Mat 24:23-28) These prophecies I mention "are" scriptural Bible truth, and so, can be helpful; if, you use them to help you build faith in Christ so as to listen carefully to his words. (Gal 3:23-26) My point is: Listening to Christ is the most important thing. Above all, you should be learning what Jesus said, learning it from the Bible. Learn it by reading the Gospels over and over to familiarity... With so many liars about, (Mark 13:21-23) that's the only way to be certain we really know Christ. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) The words Christ spoke are your very life... (John 6:63) Learning what Jesus taught is doing the will of God! (Mat 12:46-50; John 6:28-29; John 6:63; John 18:37) The Bible is a large book. It says it's history of the law and prophets exists as a tutor to direct us to Jesus Christ: (Gal 3:24-25) To help us have faith in what Jesus taught. Once you perceive your need for Christ, and are working to learn from and "know" him, the Bible's history has largely served it's purpose. (Gal 3:25) It has done what God intended... Going forward, you need to follow God's command to sit among the crowd joined earth-wide, identified (Rev 7:2-3; Eze 9:3-7) only by their personally listening to Jesus; (Mark 3:31-35) by their reading the Gospels accounting his teachings. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) Some join two or three or a few at a time to read the Gospels together. (Mat 18:20) [But never to elevate some human to teach or approve them. (Luke 6:26)] Still, the Old Testament prophecies about Jesus can help us have faith in him, or, help us strengthen the faith we do have. Just remember the thing many people seem unable to grasp, (2 Tim 3:7) this history of the prophets serves only as a tutor to direct you to learn and build faith in the words of Jesus Christ... That is your life and length of days! (Pro 3:1-2; John 17:3; Gal 3:24)
